Hey Master Turtle, I agree that we will always be students, especially in the field of bushcraft! Yet, I was told one day by a very smart grandma..." Now, John...remember, that in this world, there are carpenters and master carpenters. The carpenters have to go back and fix their mistakes...where as the master carpenters don't!". That was her way of explaining perfection...in life as in creating. Your leather work has reached that master level of perfection from what I can see and your ability to teach shows your on that plane. So, if the shoe fits, wear em...if the title fits, sport it! ;)

Best of luck with your burgeoning equipment sales concept. Very attractive haversack. Looks like it would hold a good bit of gear. I can see it was made with a lot of care. I loved the owl in the background noises, and the sound of freedom from the C-130 that flew near by. It is difficult to get away from modern noises. If that airport is a busy place you can look at your map and circle each airport with a 10 mile radius and that should cover the general aircraft landing patterns. You can also go to a civilian general aviation FBO, Fixed Base Operator and inquire about Military Low Level Training Routes. Some are used more than others for high speed low level training. Just to help out if that fits your needs for filming.

+Abo Bushcraft When I make something like this for the first time, it takes A LOT longer because I have to design it and make a pattern. From when I first started thinking of the design to it being finished was over 2 weeks. Obviously I wasn't working on it all day everyday, but it's a lengthy process for me.

have you ever thought about making leather pen slips? I made my own while they go for about $15 online. Profit margin could be huge on those since they don't use a lot of leather or require any difficult stitching. It was pretty easy to make mine at least. when people buy a $700 pen they would also probably spend 10-15 bucks on a nice looking sleeve for it, don't you think?

Very Impressive! I am a bit concerned with the excess strapping on the inner strap side. It would have been nicer to have something keeping that at bay. A bit of leather cut with two slots would hold the two sliding stops at bay. Your technique if very good. I like the choices of leather. Where do you buy yours?

really beautiful work. i know you guys at black owl are very conscientous but just a word to everyone to be careful about buying, or sourcing, any leather goods that originate in china. they have no animal welfare laws there whatsoever and often skin animals alive to keep the hide unblemished. they have also been known to market any animal skin including that of dogs and cats that have been horifically tortured to death (i am not kidding) as genuine leather.
