I'm attempting the August 2023 soap challenge, non officially, by creating this summer soap using the Luna Swirl technique introduced by Christina of Luna and the Leaf. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making the soap!
Ingredients: olive oil, lard, distilled water, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, canola oil, palm oil, coconut milk, cucumber and melon fragrance oil, castor oil, mango butter, avocado oil, cosmetic minerals and mica, sea salt

Amazing art! Most folks do not comprehend the work that goes into creating these bars. I love the cutting- it's like watching the birth of a new soap! So exciting! Beautiful as always, Ione, thank you for sharing!

Very beautiful! However, I have had the experience that when I make soaps with colors they tend to bleed so I usually stay away. I might use a natural colorant. Maybe one or two at most in a soap. Any advice you give will be greatly appreciated. I love the manner in which you make soap!😊

Thank you for watching my video and your thoughtful comment. As to colors, finding just the right amount is key. It's taken me many years of trial and error to get vibrant colors along with a nice white lather. Now, I have a mathematical formula for the different colorants I use. If you've seen my video, Making Midnight Rose Soap, I share a trick that helps. Happy soaping! :) ione

@EvesGardenSoaps Thank you so very much! I have looked at your videos for several years. I like your style very much. Lovely soaps! I also like to see how you immediately and daintily clean the counter, etc. Lol. Once again, thank you very much for your response and professionalism in soapmaking.

ive learned to use just a little bit ,way less than what the package calls for,and your safe,also another soaper told me she just puts the titanium dioxide right into the measured batter and stick blend and you just need a tiny bit ,and also she said to pour the lye water solution into the oils at 110 degrees (both of them) and you have way more time to work with the batch,its helped alot

ooh and clays are nice colorants too.Spirulina and beet powder and turmeric are good.Chlorella is nice if you want a vibrant green,but there is a nice purple indigo natural colorant (i forgot the name of it ),but I think it looks really nice,etsy might have it somewhere

can you tell me what you did with the hanger,it gets lost in the batter and then i cant tell if your doing circles or a figure 8, or just up and down
@EvesGardenSoaps

Hi Rivkah ~ Thank you for watching my video! For the hanger I went up and down from one side to the other, then I did a lop-sided S through the middle. I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione

Impressive with colors- holy shite i cant even do the ombre
@EvesGardenSoaps
@EvesGardenSoaps Жыл бұрын
Hi Carol ~ Thanks so much for watching my video and your thoughtful comment. I find ombre pours are a challenge too. I always need to make sure and use oils that don't trace fast, and a fragrance that I know doesn't accelerate the batter. This time the trouble was worth it, since I had fun and like the result. :) ione

which oils dont trace fast ? perhaps sunflower oil ? ,Im struggling with that@@EvesGardenSoaps
@EvesGardenSoaps
@EvesGardenSoaps Жыл бұрын
@@Rivkah777 The 2 oils that don't trace fast are olive oil and lard. If you don't use animal fat, then a 50% olive oil recipe should work. Happy soaping! :) ione
