I think when Athelstan was praying for Ragnars survival is because he needs Ragnar as he was treating him well. If Ragnar dies, Athelstan would probably die along with him as there would be little use for him.

I think Athelstan also truly loves Ragnar. Yes Ragnar may be tied to his ongoing relative good fortune I but I think he truly respects him as well.

@@ronweber1402 In time sure, but at the start of the episode, Athelstan asks if he is a slave. He is still not there yet in terms of endearment. He is very much an outcast still, and that is where the prayer comes in.

Great video 👍 I just found out that The vikings is the same story as The Last Kingdom 😲, and reviews say vikings ok and The Last Kingdom a lot more depth and politics.Im sure by the time you watch The Last Kingdom your beard will down by your knees 😂

I like them both equally I think. The Last Kingdom is more historically accurate and the interaction between Uhtred and Alfred is absolutely top notch and as riveting as is the parlance between Ragnar and Eckbert although Ragnar and Eckbert work more as equals and Uhtred and Alfred are very much as oathman and monarch most of the time..

Our Gods are capricious but Denmark was Christian before England, England took a while longer to form into a [lol] United Kingdom.

@TheEclecticBeard From what I remember reading, England (Land of the Angles) was introduced to Christianity via the Roman Catholic Church even before the 6th century and I certainly remember reading that it had a hold of England quite some time before the Scandinavian countries. Denmark was the first of the Scandinavian countries to turn to Christianity with Harald Bluetooth declaring so around 965 AD. (Yes, Bluetooth the technology is named after Harald Bluetooth and the symbol you see for Bluetooth is the runes for H and B overlapping) If you are interested you should search for information about the Jelling Stones.
