I purchased the green 39.5 SeaQ a couple of weeks ago and absolutley love it. Here are some of my thoughts... It is such a beatifull and unique looking watch and just oozes quality. Origninally i was going to get the blue dial version but when viewing both in the AD, I noticed that I could see the green dial much easier. This may be because the blue one has a sunburst dial and AD's have a lot of lighting (causing reflections) or it could be because green is one of the most receptive colours to the human eye. I've read that the human eye can distinguish the most shades of green compared to any other colour and this is why night vision stuff uses green. One of the reasons for going for a large number watch is that I am at the age where my close vision is deteriorating and I hate wearing glasses. To summarise, I am so glad I got the green version over the blue. The watch is also incredibly accurate and over a 5 day period gained less than 3 seconds. I have a feeling that the accuracy is getting a little better and I am now on a 7 day accuracy test. For my timing tests, I've been wearing the watch day and night. I haven't experimented yet with adjusting the time overnight by leaving it face up / face down / crown up etc..... The bracelet can indead be adjusted tighter or loser without having to remove the watch off your wrist. I use this feature at least twice a day and this is also one of the reasons why I purchased it. The bracelet is heavy though. I've picked up a few marks on the centre links but that doesn't bother me as I wear this watch every day and often do job labour type jobs. One thing I noticed since having the watch, and this hadn't been picked up an any other reviews I've seen, is that the hands and numbers grow in size at certain angles. If you are indoors in dull light and you look a the watch, the shiny surrounds of the hands and numbers can turn pure white as it picks up the reflections of a white ceiling. This is an amazing effect and makes the time stand out really well. Other times, when looking at the watch sqare on, you just see the shiny metal edges of the hands and numbers - again a very pleasing effect. The dial is a posh dark green most of the time, but if it has sunshine on it, it transforms once again to another shade of pleasing green. Sometimes the dial can almost look black and the other day the watch was picking up light from a work desk light and it actually looked a dark grey. I've never had a watch that has such an interesting dial.

Congratulations on your watch. GO is a great brand. One of the issues with why GO is not a bigger factor in the US is (1) a relatively small number of ADs; and (2) lack of familiarity with German watchmaking and thus under-appreciation of how good German watchmaking truly is. In addition to their Glashutte factory, GO has a dial factory in Pforzheim a few hours away which makes, among other dials, some of the greatest layered lacquer dials in watchdom used in the Sixties edition. I always think of GO as the German equivalent of Grand Seiko - definitely a cut above and a great value.

Thanks for your thorough review! Yes, I know this brand and less than a month ago I tried this watch on as well as as the larger Panodate in bicolor. All I can say is it made my Submariner look like a plain stepsister! Both watches are stunning, but here’s the rub: your watch fit me perfectly (40 mm is my size) but without an exhibition case back, forget it…Especially when you compare it to the bigger 43mm+ watch. That watch being bigger and thicker made me pause because I have fairly small wrist. Very sadly, I fear it’s too big for me….but my God, what a stunner watch!!! Also, it also has only a two-year warranty. So, these dive watches are right up there with any JLC (except JLC has a much longer warranty). Excellent choice!

Even if I own the Sub and used to own the SD43 (which I sold to finance the SeaQ) I think, it’s up there with Blancpain FF as best diver watchers . The SeaQ panorama datum is big (it’s very comfortable) but big and the only reason I have been considering to get the 39mm - it’s juts a pitty Glashütte don’t add the panorama datum and exhibition case back, otherwise, best divers up there. The 40 hour power reserve is sufficient for me as I keep a large watch collection so my watch rotation is constant also I don't benefit from having my watch running for 3-5 days after use putting wear and tear on the movement. I think this 39.5mm version is excellent with a design, materials and workmanship to the highest order.

I love this brand, the SeaQ 39 is next on my list..it'll be blue, but still undecided as to gold or no gold, rubber or nato, clasp or buckle? No one seems to have mentioned the choice you get on straps etc. I dont care at all about the case back..it's truer to the original and I never look at the back of my other watches movements...well not much anyway, probably 99% front 1% back. I'd prefer it to have a gold weight on the self winder though..i know you can't see it but that would feel like true luxury...it's there even if you can't see it.

I used to wear NATOs all the time. But I'm back to bracelets now. I do like rubber for my more beater watches, but not on a luxury watch like this. That may be silly of me. I may get some flak for this (entirely apposite since it's a German watch....), but for those who love the looks of this watch, Le Forban in France produce the Brestoise for 495 euros, a watch that was originally designed in 1969 in France..... Then there is the Wolbrook Skindiver, also produced in France and a sixties design, for only 399 euros, with better specs and movement than the Le Forban. Both sport Japanese movements and Chinese parts but are assembled in France. Who was first in designing this watch is not quite clear to me...... To top it all is the recent Seestern S435, a nice Germanic sounding name for a completely Chinese watch that looks uncannily like the SeaQ and offers the exact same dimensions, specs (highbeat movement, domed sapphire, excellent lume, ceramic bezel with smooth action etc) for just 190 euros.

@@adventureswithtime for a modern automatic sport (or casual non dress) watch with a date in the 6 figure price range I would want at least 55hrs. If it’s vintage or a wind up dress or no date then I could do with less. It’s just much easier when my rotation average is +60hrs it means that usually the date and time is still correct when I switch after work on putt another on. It’s really personal but again for msrp of +$10,000 usd with a date window it should have a better power reserve . See the sixties GO line have the same power reserve but no date and are more dressy (so not so much in the rotation) and is much less expensive than the diver.
