Because collectors want to keep the original movement that came with the watch. With the powermatic 80 movement, they replace the whole thing with a movement that they fixed previously. So it won't be your movement, it will be from someone else's@@imovieperson

Thank you very much for the review, I'll be swapping my old T-Touch (2006) with the PR516 because they told me (Swatch Group/Tissot) that the T touch doesn't have spare parts anymore, so they are giving me a loyalty discount and I could choose any model so I chose this one! I'm excited and looks fun. I was looking for a new chronograph, I like the idea of not going all the way on spending the amount for a Speedmaster or El Primero, this looks like a bargain and the Quality seems pretty good. I do believe it maintains the clutch in the main spring stopping it from over winding, as this movement was modified from the automatic valljoue.

Since this is a manual winding, it means at some point after the spring is fully wound you will feel the pressure and not be able to wind anymore. Therefore, once you will the pressure stop winding or you will break the spring :)

Can you breakdown the differences between mechanical version and the quartz version. Price delta is significant
@joelbrunzell10 ай бұрын
The quartz version runs of battery power, with no need to wind the watch. The mechanical version needs to be hand wound as it uses a mainspring to send power through gears to make the watch run. Hope that helps!

The quartz version has a significantly different (and significantly uglier) dial.

@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches3 ай бұрын
Our series, called 'Masterclass,' breaks down the mechanics of a watch, which might help you better understand how a mechanical watch works. You can check it out here: www.youtube.com/@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches/videos As mentioned earlier, a quartz watch runs on a battery and doesn’t need winding. While maintenance is generally cheaper than for a mechanical watch, once you understand how a mechanical watch operates, you’ll never trade the experience for the convenience of a less expensive quartz watch."

Why do you think it's not worth this? I mean, what else would you get comparable to this watch for CHF 1'000.-?
@MrShoryuken19 ай бұрын
I think the price is about right, there are very few swiss mechanical chronos for less than £1800. The Hamilton Intramatic Chrono is sometimes on sale around £1500. I suspect the second hand market will be a challenge, don't expect Tissot will manage to sell too many.
@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches9 ай бұрын
@@MrShoryuken1Good point, the brands on Tissot level are not really much cheaper which means the price is quite fair. I agree but i think whoever buys a Tissot, Hamilton or for example a Longines will not buy it to resell it...

The design is pretty good. For the movement removing the automatic winder mechanism will reduce the thickness. But 1)on a mechanical point of view, I am not a fan of automatic movement transformation to pass in manual. On atomatic the manual winding is not as robust, because the atomatic winding is most use and put less stress on the gear, the main spring slide can prevent overwinding but do not overwinding it too much in manual, you will wear it faster. I hope that the mechanical modification go further that just remove the autmatic Wonder and put a plate ( with is nice, it is a luxury product of course) 2) The main interested on mechanical chronograph is to see the chronograph gears, lever and so one and a mechanical column wheel is perfect for that, but the valjoux 7750 serie is not à column wheel one. Every thing is hide by the plate. The 7750 is a robust and good, but "cheap" movement. Why not make a new modern movement base on a Venus 175 for example. The quality of the video is awesome.
@LesAmbassadeurs-Watches6 ай бұрын
There is no differenc in wear-off to be honest because, if you as a wearer are winding the spring or the automatic section - it is the same approach.
