Omg this is a perfect illustration of how your channel has evolved TGV. We're back to the old OG part time YouTubing and primary interest in watches but we've also changed a lot after our time away from the Janeiro. We've become so much more refined. When I see this watch, I remember you battling your health yet working hard to both collect watches and help us all become better versions of ourselves. That still inspires me today. Congratulations T!

The Janeiro returns!!!! Hallelujah. I remember when you sold it. I said to myself that you would rebuy it. Alas here we are. Fantastic. I bought a 1969 Speedy in Paris with my wife. Then foolishly I decided I would rather have other watches more and sold it. Recently I bought another Speedy and feel like I am home once again. A very pleasant turn of events. Congratulations. Nothing wrong with a higher end Tissot. Im a solid fan of Tissot and Seiko both for good quality at a good price and the fact that my wife wont kill me for buying a new watch in their price points. I go buy a Tudor, Omega or NOMOS for 5-7k USD, im sleeping on the couch for a year.

I much prefer the Tissot Janiero over the Tudor. I'm weary of the conservative styling of Tudor. The Janiero is a breath of fresh air after the Tudor blandness. It's bursting with detail and intricacy. Love it.

Well done. Im assuming it cost MUCH more than the first time. I have also repurchased watches at VASTLY higher prices. It is not about the money. It’s about the passion. The feelings of euphoria. The return to glory.

My, my my…once again, you manage to slip in more than a minor history lesson (hella thought-provoking, too - I was nodding my head more than a little), *then* make your big reveal, which I love, and truly agree was worth letting go of the Tudor for. One *very* minor quibble would be your take on the usefulness of the Telemeter scale: from an outdoorsperson's perspective, it can come in handy when dealing with an impromptu, incoming thunderstorm: gauging distance and direction. (On the cheaper end, this is why I love my 90s-era Seiko 7T32-9000 chronograph, which also nails that vintage-chrono vibe surprisingly well. Great presentation, once again!

I'm glad to see that you've decided to allow Tissot back into your life! You should be thankful that you can wear it. I just had the harrowing experience of going to an AD to buy a Jet Star Limited Edition (96K112) only to find out that it's at least 4mm too small for my wrist. Having slab wrists really does suck sometimes because it locks you out of the vast majority of watches. It would appear that I can't really pull off anything smaller than 44mm with very few exceptions. The 40mm Jet Star looked absolutely ridiculous on me because it looked like a Happy Meal toy. Sure, I can easily pull off a Tissot Seastar 2000, Bulova Lunar Pilot and Invicta Grand Diver, but there's not much else out there for a wrist with a sweet spot of 44-47mm. I envy you for that, I really do.

Pure class 1930s aesthetics and another reminder of how tasteful and observing Dan Henry is with his 1939 Chronograph hommage. Great video! Wonderful watch. Tissot are an interesting brand. The replaceable newer movements might be a sad thing to hear about, but, we are watch enthusiasts, so predominantly we like the design of watches. Replacing movements is no deterrent from enjoying a beautiful watch, as servicing is hidden away from us anyway, we don't look over the shoulder of a stooped watchmaker tinkering away, very often it gets shipped out and then shipped back. I digress, what I mean to write is I don't see replacing entire movements becoming the norm. Many brands make movements that require skilled servicing, they have vested interests in maintaining the stream of skilled workers to fit this criteria. I believe brands like Tissot are great entries for new enthusiasts as they have strong marketing appeal for newer generations. However, if one decides on buying Casios, Seiko's, Citizens, G-Shocks, then they are buying such an enormously good value for money watch, that the motive to buy another watch to create a collection should be purely for design, for fun, and for themselves and the merit of appealing to ones lifestyle. Bit of a waffle, but I don't think SWATCH are the sign of the end times, I hope at least. Big fan! Love the independent reviews.

This watch is gorgeous. I don't think there's any Tissot in the modern catalog that comes close to it in terms of design. Loved how you covered the history. One point I would add to this video, though, is just how crazy it must have been in the 90s to modify an automatic chronograph movement and make it manual wind. I've heard people say they couldn't sell manual wind watches in the '90s. People wanted quartz, and if they did go mechanical, they always went automatic for tgr convenience. This really shows, in my view, that this limited edition wasn't a 'test' of a new movement or case that they planned to later put into series production and make loads of money from it. Or change the color of the dial and put the whole watch into series production. This was an actual limited edition aimed at enthusiasts. I would liken it to Tissot re-issuing a 33mm gold dress watch today. Something completely unpopular in the mainstream.
