Do it! It's a genius idea, why should someone else make the money!? Connecting a Hololens to smart homes would be amazing! Though, it'd be catered to a small niche, that niche would have the money to go nuts with it :) :)

to make that work. you would have to have an app that tracks your real life stuff and lets assume it doesnt move. say like room lights, Stereo, electronic faucets, garage, etc. once you lock those things into the app. then you can assign controls to them. and the hololens would send out a single to say your room lights. to dim(if they can be dimmed) and to turn them on and off. to life your garage door. just move your hand up.

@mantonythe1st8 жыл бұрын
I somehow found this far more mind-blowing than the hololens demos. With the demos you get the feeling that the situations are set up for the holograms to work perfectly and blend to that environment with no problems, but this actually shows that it really does work in the real world and not just in a perfectly set-up environment.

Hello Winbeta, how are you? My name is Rafael Shikamaru, I'm from Brazil and this one is my channel about the world of Microsoft. I am part of the Windows Team, which began #NewMobileDevicesInBrazil campaign on twitter. But what I would like to speak has nothing to do with this issue, in fact I would like to request permission to repost your video on Hololens in my channel, and narrate them in our language, of course, always keeping all credits to your site and channel with links in the description and matter. You would see a problem with that? I think the fantastic new holographic hardware from Microsoft and many people have his curiosity, but few Brazilians know the your language. Thank you in advance for the feedback :)

I really want one, but I'm not paying $3k for it. Also, they have to fix the FOV to make it useful Do you get use to the lack of FOV over time? After using it for such a long time, do you think the FOV is good as it is?
@pumpuppthevolume8 жыл бұрын
well it's not really for consumers it's a proof of concept and it's basically a shiny looking prototype not only the fov will get better but apparently there is tech that can make the glass behind the hologram black/not translucent plus when it's packed with more powerful hardware and sensors they can implement stuff like making the hologram projection react to objects that r supposed to be in front of them....meaning you can "cover the hologram with your hand"
@TheAIKnowledgeHub8 жыл бұрын
pumpuppthevolume Not this second, but it needs to start having a push to come out.

Tech Reviews and Help well microsoft just announced (yesterday I think) that they will share the platform with other hardware companies ....but just like vr it will be some time until a few consumer version devices r on the market and that's just the first step towards getting it affordable and perfected but the thing is one day it will be as ubiquitous as monitors and pcs it's almost inevitable
@mikabruh218 жыл бұрын
it's not only a prototype, it's a stable release build, just the only broblem is hololens is only for companies and developers. However, time will change, slow but sure, hololens will be a consumer targeted things. but don't hope it will comes shortly. (Google glass is terrible as a developer-bussiness targeted smart glasses)
@pumpuppthevolume8 жыл бұрын
+Farhan Afnan Iskandar ok it's not "basically a shiny looking prototype" .... it's a development kit.. like it says on th box and obviously I didn't mean it literally... my point was that this is a different class of device and there r going to be a ton of different models on the market at some point and this dk version is just meant to show that it works and more importantly to be used for developing the software

If this had a wifi network like Google Glass where I could go anywhere and still have a connection. I would instantly get it. Being it would be so much more convenient then carrying around a laptop or tablet. My only issue is how bulky it is, but in time I think they'll resolve that like Vuzix.
@VegasVolt3ya9a8 жыл бұрын
Like MazariegoS saying, "The end of TV screens and Computer monitors", might be a real issue to companies which are specified on those subjects, but how is the quality of GUI, graphics ingames, latency, etc? I am thinking of buying one on a stable release (final retail version of that hardware and such), but being atm pretty unsure if I would buy one right now. HTC Vive and Oculus are just a disappointment. More bordering someone than releasing anyone to a virtual reality at once.

1000's of people a year lose their holograms due to not following this simple advice! This technology is great, I can really see it coming down in price and entering everyday use. I would like to see if it's comfortable enough to wear all day. Might be an interesting site to see a coffee shop full of people playing and working on these.

How sensitive is the voice usability? I do not have working vocal chords(everything else works), and I kind of talk in a whisper, but if I Dragon Speak, or anything like Siri the device doesn't pick it up. If I record my voice it's nothing more than a click that is very annoying. I know what I am saying on it, but yeah...anyway that's the short end. I guess my question is can you activate anything by a keyboard, gesture, or anything like that without having to talk? Thanks.

That would be pointless. The power of hololens is that it can run everything without cables and extra gears. You just put them on and everything is ready for a full immersive experience. The mapping technology is way more advanced than any other visor out there. If you wish you can totally watch your computer wirelessly with Hololens by using the with RemoteDesktop Universal App, or TeamViewer Universal App (also already working on Continuum).

What if there was a Surface or PC hologram which worked, basically continuum for Hololens. Why buy the computer when you can pretend it's there.
@0M9H4X_Neckbeard8 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? HoloLens is a Windows Computer, you don't have to pretend. It's sitting right on your head.
@jmkyarrow8 жыл бұрын
0M9H4X I mean a hologram of a conventional computer which you could use instead of a real one. Because they are both proper Windows machines anyway, the Hololens could easily emulate a pc-like experience through that hologram.
@0M9H4X_Neckbeard8 жыл бұрын
RGBPlaza But why would you even project a PC into the room? Isn't it just a waste of processing power of the HoloLens?
@familycraftdad8 жыл бұрын
If the resolution gets good enough, this would be a god send for developers. Being able to copy and paste code from various windows I have around me, without being tied down to a desk? I could be ANYWHERE and have not just my triple screens available to me, but endless screens all within a device I can fit into a back pack, and not kill myself to have to tote around. So having a virtual PC in front of you is a wonderful use of the Hololens' power :)
