Cant seem to find the new app... been using the RM plug in, but that seems to have stopped working with Alexa, so tried IHC... as per your instructions and not used the EU version.. same problem that Alexa not seeing devices .. then tried the Blue Broadlink app.. same again... all work great through App.. and even linked Alexa Skills... but for some weird and strange reason, Alexa finds nothing!.. is this GDPR issue, or, Alexa issue, or.... a Me issue? Been a couple months now playing about trying things to no avail 😔

So correct me here. The irc app let's things like lamp on/off be picked up by Google assistant and voice controlled directly without ifttt in the middle. The econtrol allows the android rm plugin to use its database. This allows tasker to easily get remote controls. So I use both apps, but only use irc for the lamps/lights to get native google assistant capability of my Rf light switches. Otherwise it's econtrol with rm plugin and tasker for me. Would this new app only replace the irc app so I would still benefit from econtrol and rm plugin (looking at using the bridge when my hubitat arrives = thanks Paul for convincing me to get one).

Hello Paul, Where can I find this Broadlink new App? Coudn't Find it on google playstore
@DJDavo0135 жыл бұрын
There’s one thing I really miss in the ihc eu app! In the old app you could make ur own user defined lay-out, which is also available in the ihc app. The main diffirence is that in the old broadlink app you can configure the size of the buttons & place the buttons where you want to, so you can create a logical lay-out which feeds ur needs! It’s quite anoying with the ihc app that you can only place 3 buttons in row & you can’t re-arrange the position of the buttons. In my opinion to make the user defined setup perfect, is to make it possible to upload a background picture! For instance a remote without buttons so you can place ur own customized buttons on top of it. An option to share ur lay-outs also would be a big plus for the ihc community also, so people who don’t have design skills etc. could benefit also. Do you know If it’s possible with the new ihc app that it’s possible to use 3rd party voice controll with user defined applience? Since you have contact with the guys from broadlink... maybe you can share this info with them? Thnx in advance! Cheers & keep up the good work mate! 🍺

Hi Paul, I'm new to all this and a little confused. So as it stands, can the broadlink RM Pro control RF and IR? I'm based in the UK as I know the US get some differences
@paulhibbert5 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, yep. If you buy the RM pro in the UK you'll get one that can fire Infrared for stuff like your TV and set top boxes, and also that can fire 433Mhz frequency signals. If you were in the US and bought the same thing you would get one that fired 315Mhz because our military's both use opposing frequencies and so us civilians use opposing frequencies so we don't clash with the military. For the same reason any RF equipment you buy in your country SHOULD by default match the RM pro you bought, but that said I have a projector screen that unfortunately must have started life in the states as it's on 315Mhz. It's the only thing I've had any difficulty with. Hope that helps :)

Hi. Love your videos. Do you think something like this would be able to control a chair lift remote so that I can summon the chair via Alexa ?
@remaincalm25 жыл бұрын
Yes, because you can teach the Broadlink what the commands are for your chairlift remote. It "listens" to you pressing a button and then reproduces the same signal when you ask for it. If your chairlift remote is infrared then the Broadlink will need to have a clear line of sight. If it's RF then it shouldn't matter if the Broadlink is placed in a nearby room. But it's very cheap for what it does and it well worth buying and trying it out. I've got all sorts of things working with Alexa controlling my Broadlink. Since a week a noticed that the new broadlink app has been released for iOS (Blue icon with a B) It looks kinda same as the one in this vid.. But they removed the black & gold skin... A big plus is that you can load the settings from the IHC app! But I really don’t know what the beep the are doing with the custom icons??? Since a while in all of a sudden all my custom icons dissapear in the IHC app?? The icons appear in custom library but Somehow they dissapear in the buttons en devices... I had to add them add ‘m all again & a few weeks later, the same the happend again.. fricking anoying tho! Since the last week when I wanted to add them again I have to login to my account, try to add it again & have to login again.. etc etc The weird thing is that it loads my custom icons in the new app correctly... But only the custom device icons. There’s a major bug in the app at the moment. When you open a 3rd party device you will get a light blue screen with the text: RGB 模式 Which means RGB Mode I haven’t got much time to test the whole app... A cool thing is that they added the option to control a electrical projector screen inside the beamer device! But not option to set a timer on the stop button smh I really hope they fix things soon in their apps, cuz at the moment I got stuck having 2 not properly working apps

Someone help!! So I've switched to the new app now, thought I'd given it enough time for them to iron out the kinks. I really only use the RM mini 3 to control my portable AC unit. I have the broadlink A1 E-air that detects the temperature in my room and triggers the AC to turn on when it gets to a set upper temperature and triggers it to turn off when it gets to a lower set temperature. The "trigger X when temperature goes down to Y" commands go through fine to turn off my AC but the "Trigger X when temperature goes up to Y" commands never go through and I've tried everything I can think of. I've noticed that the new RM 4s can have a special cable to sense temperature. Has anyone tried this in a similar application to mine? Do the routines work with that product? I'm thinking it might be that they might have stopped supporting the E-air and I'll have to get this newer type of sensor for it to work with the new app but I don't want to spend £40 on a hunch. If anyone can tell me if it works or even if you're having the same issues I'd greatly appreciate it. I have multiple sclerosis and my nerve damage means that I have to have my room in a specific temperature range to avoid horrific pain. This not working is causing me pain. It's frustrating.
@paulhibbert4 жыл бұрын
Not tried the new sensor cable, but as this is so important I think it's worth investing in something more dedicated like Hive, or Nest. I have had a good experience with the echo 4th gen itself detecting temperature too. I created an Alexa routine that tells me it's getting too warm when over a certain temperature. I could just as easily have her turn the aircon on via my Broadlink blackbean. 😊

You have RF and IR lights and sockets, is there not a risk of these being controlled from outside your property, or thru the window? As far as I know there is no security on RF or IR devices. The remote control simply sends pulses of radio or flashes of light. RF=radio frequency IR=Infra-red
@fillerf5 жыл бұрын
For IR yes and for simple RF remotes yes. For lights switches You have to do a "pairing" the first time. I think it is to identify the switch. I have many broadlink light switches and I have never experienced issues. How it will be if the whole street has same broadlink switches I do not know.as far as I know there is only one way com. Hi Paul generally your videos are great, but this product and/or App is absolute dogs**t worst company i've used for any smart home tech device i've purchased, App won't update firmware, and it works when it feels like. Smartlife have an IR controller is it any good do you know? or am better of biting the bullet and buying the Harmony Hub?
@paulhibbert5 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, it ain't perfect, but the RM pro is the ONLY product that does Infrared and RF, and although you think the software is bad, there is more than one option. Try IHC if you don't like the Broadlink app, and try the Broadlink app if you don't like IHC. I haven't tried to update firmware for a very long time, but then I've never really needed to. The only time I ever updated firmware was because a viewer had said they were having trouble, and it worked fine when I did it. The Smartlife based IR sender works OK for switching things on and off, but it's no good for changing TV channels. The Broadlink has properly implemented channel switching (and again it's not perfect), whereas the Smartlife software hasn't implemented it at all. I ended up creating a separate remote for every single number and then creating a routine that turned the individual "remotes" on in sequence to fire the channel numbers, which as you can imagine was utterly mental. If you're looking to just turn things on and off then the smart life option is fine. The only other option is Harmony, but that has it's own drawbacks aside from the insane price tag. They force you down a very specific way of working that to me feels counter intuitive and restrictive. I've always ended up going back to the RM pro for Infrared control.

@@paulhibbert Hi Paul thanks for your reply, see as this video was several months ago I expected the new app to be completed and refined but I expecting to much obviously, I am using the IHC app not EU app, everytime I open the app it ask to update firmware which proceed to but then fails, and using the broadlink skill on the echo. This is not a pop at you as I've loved watching your video, just a vent and hopefully a solution. Thanks again.

No problem man. To be 100% clear on the app versus skill situation: If you're using the IHC app you MUST use the IHC skill. If you're using the IHC For EU app then you MUST use the IHC for EU skill. If you're using the Broadlink app then you MUST use the Broadlink skill. If you can't use the app because it's asking for a firmware update then try the new app, see if that will do it instead. Hope that helps dude!

Is that new App going to work on iOS with Alexa without the need for the RM plug in???
@paulhibbert5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom! Yes, but IHC does that already too! I actually run the RM plugin alongside IHC for EU so I get the IFTTT functionality, but also the localisation of the RM plugin :)

Broadlink is so much bang for the bucks. The power control modules, the light switches, the alarm kit with for sensors and movement sensor , the RM Pro and the environment sensor. It has made me automate most things for very low cost. The appartement knows when I'm home and when I leave or come home.

How is the security kit these days? It used to have issues with notifications. Is all thaf fixed now?
@fillerf5 жыл бұрын
@@paulhibbert I have no big issues now. but I have to make sure I'm logged into the account in the app. Sometimes the app restarts and then you might not be logged in, and then you get zero notification... But I mostly use the kit for turning on things when i open the door coming home, or turn off stuff when I leave. Also to only keep lights on in the kitchen when I'm there..so I would say the security kit has more useful features than the security itself..

HELP PAUL!!!! I need your help. First off let me say thank you for all your broadlink videos (not a whole lot of channels upload stuff about it.) I am currently in the process of building a new house. And I'm making my house a smart home right off the bat but I have no experience with smart devices or any other smart home technology. I was hoping I may turn to you for advice regarding my smart home setup. If you ain't got time to bother yourself with my problems I understand. But your knowledge would be greatly appreciated!
