hehe thanks a lot buddy... yeah there is no hiding it .. "slight" for the full history / full disclaimer we have to go back to when I started this channel and my IG... SU was the first ever brand that wanted to send over a watch on loan for me to review.. no strings attached... from that video on I've been commissioned to help work on image & video assets to support the release packs. of course I like the brand and richard a lot. on this channel I focus on bringing showcase video's on watches & brands that spart my interest , not choosing to spen hours into production on things I'm not excited about. Being allowed to make a video (not part of the commissioned work) is just an honour for me since this is a scoop for the channel that also allows me to promote my photography.... very thankful for that too.

The dark flecks on the skin is a nice touch. I don't like fishing but I have caught more fish than I can count because of where I grew up and I ate so much salmon as a child it's like hotdogs and wonder bread to me. I have salmon dials but it's the association with the actual fish I don't like. I do like my two studio underdog watches though. If dad was still alive I would totally pay 2k to gift him this watch, he retired early to sport fish salmon all season. If wishes were fishes that's what I would do. They might get me with this watch in a different colorway though.

I wondered why the price had jumped up for this model. However all is clear now and has a much improved movement from the vintage Chinese/Swiss series 1. I really like it as it retains the same playful traits as every Unerd0g but has an almost classy vibe too with the silver cobalt skin colour. Another win for the studio even after the Moser colab, nice one Rich and the team. 👏👏👏

The creator is obviously very smart as well as creative. I want to see him do well in the watch industry at large, perhaps lending his design talents to established luxury brands. I also want to see Studio Underdog move into a higher price tier, with quality, serviceable movements and the best dial materials and finishes.

I understand that it has a better movement than the Series 01, but let's face it, it looks like an alternative (surprisingly classy) colour variant of the £500 Series 01. So, the asking price is outrageous in my opinion. You can get horologically relevant watches for less than this. Perhaps Phoibos, Spinnaker and Zelos will add Swiss movements to their next releases and charge £1000+ for them. Don't get me wrong, this release is nice enoough looking. Studio Underdog are also not the only British microbrand to push the boundaries of price realism. Christopher Ward and Farer are also believing their own hype with some of their releases.

It's an interesting one. You'll have to really love the brand, the design (which is essentially a new colourway, since the layout has been pretty consistent from the series 01) or care enough about the Swiss movement vs the Chinese to pull the trigger at a price point with established brands with their own history and design language. I think it's an incredibly brave move, and one that will determine the future trajectory of the brand. It's one thing being the darling of quirky, cheap, watchmaking, quite another to knock on the doors of Nomos, Tissot and Longines. For myself, I'm not engaged enough by the "salmon" gag that I'd pay the money for the watch over it's competitors.

I think this might be a misstep as they are trying to jump 2 price categories with just a new colorway and a swiss movement. If Underdog wanted to make such a large jump I think they needed an all new design not something connected to a $600 watch.

I really like this and am ready to preorder on Wednesday. However, having heard here that the case is the same dimensions as the Series 1, and is therefore likely to be the same case other than milling just one slot as it’s a monopusher then I question why the price has increased by £1200 compared with the original Watch with the Seagull movement when customers are gaining only £600s worth of Sellita movement. Watch economics, eh?

Thanks ! Turns out using a c stand to try and balance a watch on a slimey piece of salmon didn’t work so I used acrylic rods (an Amazon search will find that for you )

This is random and not necessarily related to this video, I am thinking about ordering a Meraud Bonaire from one of your previous videos, but I am hesitant because I have not seen any activity online from this company in months and seen many posts about not being able to contact them. I just got a Tissot Gentleman 80 Silicium for €500. Superb quality, Swiss movement, I’m getting +-2 seconds. The finishing is awesome. The dial looks superb. No way this watch is worth 4x of that Tissot. I’d love to buy this design, but he lost me with the 2K price. I’d rather buy a Longines for that price. 2K is just crazy. And I don’t even think anyone asked for it.

@@BowlOfSalmonAll models in my opinion longines has the best value for money of every watch type across the board in the 2000-3000ish dollar range. Im not saying they have a chronograph that competes at this price but around this price you can get the new longines conquest or hydro conquest which are much better value for money. I had sticker shock when i heard the price of this watch from my few years in watchs from what i saw i figured just north of 1,000 dollars 1,400 dollars at the most. Microbrands are a dime a dozen (except for zelos and CW which stand out from all the others) Microbrands dont have the heritage history or status that well known brands like longines have but where they are supposed to compete is value for money since they dont have all the overhead for all the advertising and brand ambassadors so i think they are missing the mark at this price point cause it isnt good value for money. Plus with longines your getting a 5 year warranty with studio underdog its a 2 year warranty. Not saying the watch isnt nice the movement is beautiful and the dial is awesome and unique i just think they need to realize theyre niche and what their competitive advantage is in the watch market.

Another great design from Studio Underd0g, now with a good movement. Thing is : beyond the initial « whaoo » moment, how often will one will wear this watch ? I have been lucky to get a SU Desert Sky during the Kickstarter launching campaign. Loved the colours, case size and mix of vintage and modern vibes. But eventually flipped it, as it started collecting dust in the sock drawer. Maybe SU watches are not manufactured with daily wear in mind, but rather as nice little objects to be exposed on one’s desk ?

@@BowlOfSalmon The point is that at £1700 it's approaching the cost of a used luxury brand watch, and it's more expensive than virtually every Christopher Ward at retail, the list goes on. I appreciate the fun design, and the fact it's hand built in the UK, but it's no longer in the territory of micro brand pricing, it feels too much too soon, and I do not see the value to the customer at that price level. It'll sell like hotcakes again, and all the scalpers will be out in force, but I sadly won't be buying one, for the money I'll take a used Black Bay, or a used Speedmaster reduced.

The colab would have been nice IF the people who made SU exist would not have been cut out of being able to own it. This makes it seem like it's a watch daddy gets for his kid who'll then say "my watch is like daddy's!" BUT the people who bought into and made the brand be in demand were literally left aside on that Moser colab

These watches could easily be mass-produced... The way they sell makes me laugh. They literally create fomo. You buy it, and before you know it, you're the proud owner of a hype piece of crap... No history, achieved nothing. No in-house movement... I'll pass, thanks, lol

It's boring and just a way to create hype around something that could easily be mass produced... My GS dials run cycles around these things, and I can buy them all year-round, lol But each to their own, I get it, mate 👍
