After listening for the first time, the one thought in my head was: He's been working on his vocals and it shows. Tbh to me he's an example of hard work paying off. He was a decent dancer but really worked hard and is now one of the best in the group. He wasn't naturally inclined for rap like changbin or han but put his mind to it and became one of the main rappers in the group. And i tend to especially like his rap parts and deliveries in their songs. He wasn't a great vocalist but here we are now. And i think he's been working to try to make/ produce music like 3racha have been, like he's been showing more and more interest in doing it the past few albums. And of course the drawing/ painting. He started during the pandemic and we've seen in his posts how good his works have been. Hyunjin's perseverance is inspiring

Did you know that Hyunjin also composed and produced Cover Me? It seems like this song is a good surprise for you. Hyunjin's music side really deserves more recognition because he is SO GOOD! Hyunpop is also very diverse. There are songs like Cover Me and Quill Pen, but also songs like TASTE and Red Lights. I love DLMLU and Love Untold too. Not to mention So Good and the unreleased diva Mic and Brush. Hyunjin is an ace. Fun fact he is really good at musical whistling, he also did it in Long for You, a lovely little sad poetry of a song.

during interviews hyunjin mentioned he's been working on songs and writing etc. Since debut not just these recent years but he got opportunity to show it thro gp ( as he made red light, cover me ,lovestay, DLMLU, taste ) and also skz records.. he's alr 4th producer in skz after 3racha ofc not officially in this line but he alr proved how talented he's. I've always loved Hyunjin's solo songs. I remember listening to "Miss You" for the first time and fell in love with his style, voice, and writing skills. Every one of his solos is on my playlist. В ответ на ваш вопрос к зрителям по поводу корейского и английского названия этой песни выскажу свои субъективные мысли. Мне кажется песня о том, что что-то могло быть, что уже прошло, а жизнь как-то размеренно продолжается. Бумага для заметок (корейское название) - это символ некоего дневника памяти, в котором сначала все больно, а со временем это уже ностальгия, рассуждения, но уже без боли, просто воспоминания. Quill pen - гусиное перо, вероятно потому, что это как запись из собственного дневника ушедших дней. Также гусиное перо может символизировать пробуждение лучшего в человеке, ясность мысли и более отчётливое видение пути. Оно помогает раскрыть скрытые таланты и способности. Возможно данный момент стал отправной точкой когда каждый понял чего хочет и пошёл собственным путём. И Хенджин нашел свой путь путем озвучивания гусиным пером на бумаге для заметок своих чувств и мыслей. Как мне кажется корейское и английское название - это как элементы одного пазла, что если ты не прячешь свои эмоции и чувства, а проговариваешь их, то человеку легче справиться с болью от расставания и восстановиться для дальнейшей жизни и возможно новых чувств и отношений Но это моя трактовка, мои домыслы и ощущения после очень долгого прослушивания данной композиции. Обожаю подобные чувственные работы! Так тонко и прекрасно исполнено.

I think having Quill Pen and Scratch Paper together is such a telling combination that really fits into the lyrics of the song. I can't speak for the artist of course, but this is what I am inferring: - Quill pens need a lot of care during use and for maintainence. You have to sharpen it often to get a point, but as a result of that it leads to wear and tear and will eventually need replacing, if it doesn't break first. The imagery of using a quill pen - as opposed to just a pen, or fountain pen, or pencil - is that it looks delicate and soft because of the feathers, but feathers are strong enough to give flight. Quill pens are also thought to symbolise sincerity. - As for scratch paper -- there are two possible meanings so I'm not sure which one Hyunjin had in mind. One common one is that scratch paper is something you'd use to write on but without the intention of keeping. Which is what is written in the first verse song: "After scribbling all over my heart // You're telling me to rip it apart if it hurts" and "The memories you said we would build, you just toss them aside and left". The other possible meaning is he meant scratch paper to be one where the content was hastily written, and typically unimportant whatever the cost of the paper it is written on. My guess (and only a guess, please) is that Hyunjin may have been likening himself to both the quill pen and paper in this relationship. Perhaps he saw himself to be like a quill pen, in that he needs or needed a lot of care and attention in the relationship. Perhaps he likened himself to be scratch paper in the relationship, as he could have felt that he was not something (or someone) to be cherished and kept. It is clear here that he's writing about being shown affection by someone who never meant to cherish their relationship or hold on to it in the first place, hence scratch paper. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. These are just near-midnight thoughts and just my opinion. Hyunjin could definitely have been thinking of other meanings different to what I wrote!
