I've always wanted to restore one of these old hand cranked pencil sharpeners. Repairing old things is always so interesting and this type of vintage sharpener are beautiful.
Restoring old things is my hobby and at the same time i learn how to remove rust from metal. The sharpener was very rusty and it didn't sharpen pens very well so it was in need of a restoration, this repair and restoration took me about 2 weeks to complete .
This pencil sharpener is made in Switzerland but I'm not sure what year it is. Possibly from the 1950's.

I started the restoration by removing rust from metal parts parts with rust remover. After rust removal steel brush to polish the surfaces. Then the parts were re-painted first with 2 coats of black primer then 2 coats of metallic blue.
The metal part on the handle only needed some sanding and polishing so I did that. And the wooden part was first sanded to remove some dirt that had been there and then soaked in linseed oil and then waxed.
I really enjoy restoring old things and liked the outcome of this pencil sharpener restoration.I am so happy i could give this vintage pencil sharpener a new life.
