Hi Brenda I just subscribed to your channel and have started to watch you old videos and how amazing your projects have been. All I can say is WOW!!!. They are absolutely stunning and beautiful. I do cross stitching but on 14 count but I would like to try to do 16, 18, and maybe 28 count because I have never done those counts. When I saw your first video The alpine and Medieval Manadalls were outstanding. I have never done those or a heaven and earth design but I may be tempted to try to do a heaven and earth design. But am not sure if I am ready yet. When you said you live in Pleasant Grove Ut, I live in Syracuse Ut. My husband and I retired at Hill AFB and come April 2022 it will be 5 years. That is when I started to do the cross stitching which I love. It is relaxing to me and such a joy to do. I love all the cross stitching you showed at the end of the video. Fantastic!!!! I look forward to watching more of your old video and current. Happy Stitching and be safe and kind. God bless Pat

Hi Pat!! So nice to hear from you. Syracuse is a lovely area :) And so glad you found cross stitching. I agree, it is relaxing and joyful for me as well :) Yes, you should try a small project on the higher count aida and see how you like it!

Wonderful to see you again, Brenda! Congrats on so many finishes!! Hope you accomplish what you want these next few weeks. Lovely!! i really enjoyed this video. Your son does an amazing job on your editing . It is clear he is good at what he does. But, I must admit, I liked this one with a bit less editing in place. Seeing you and hearing you chat and just take projects in and out of the bags felt more like you were there just chatting with me, where sometimes I missed ' you' when it was more heavily edited. I hope that came across as encouraging and not complaining. That is how I meant it. I just enjoyed seeing and hearing you in this one. Thank you for making it and looking forward to your plans.

I've never seen any pieces where all the floss is hanging loose, is that cross stitch? Those floss cards with the vinyl pockets are a fantastic idea. I've seen a lot of floss tubes and you have the most interesting and complex pieces I've seen.
@Handworkmaniac2 жыл бұрын
Thank You Sandra! When the flosses hang down like that it is a method of cross stitching called the "parking method". If you search for "flosstube parking method tutorial" on KZbin you will find many videos explaining how it works. It is most commonly used on large full coverage patterns that call for many colors. Such as a Heaven and Earth design pattern.

Brenda, I always LOVE seeing your WIPs. You amaze me every video how much you accomplish. What is your schedule/plan each week? How long do you actually stitch on any given week?
@Handworkmaniac2 жыл бұрын
Thank You Lori! I work M-F 7:30-4:00. So on weeknights I usually get around 4-5 hours of stitching in before and after dinner. I do all of my cleaning and chores on Saturday mornings and then sit down to stitch after lunch. I usually get about 10 hours of stitching in on Saturdays. Sundays I am busy with Church responsibilities and family get togethers. So I might get an hour or two of stitching in on Sunday nights. I am an empty nester, and my husband has a day job as well as his own company that he runs on nights and weekends. So I have a lot of time to myself to stitch :)

Ur work is just beautiful. So neat and straight lines. When u cut ur floss, how long is the piece??? It really is impressive.work.
@Handworkmaniac2 жыл бұрын
Thank You Theresa! If I am using cotton floss I cut my strands about 18 inches (36 inches if I am doubling it over to do a loop start with a solid color). And with silk I cut it about 12 inches because the floss wears out faster and loses it's sheen.

Just curious - is there a particular reason people keep track of how much time they spend on a project? Trying to catch up on you here - been busy the last couple of months & if I watch & drool over what you do - I won't get my quilt or baby announcement done so I can start on my horse. Thank you for doing these! Merry Christmas!
@Handworkmaniac2 жыл бұрын
Happy New Year Merry!!! Personally, I only record time spent stitching if I am using a time based rotation (work on this piece for 12 hours and then switch to something else). Or, if I am trying to figure out how much time a particular project will take to finish. If I know this quarter of the piece took a certain amount of hours, then I know I can times that by three to see how long the whole thing will take. And how many hours a day I would have to stitch on it to get it done by a certain deadline. And I think sometimes it is fun to just see how many minutes a day you average stitching in a particular month or year. Oh, and if you belong to a "challenge group" on Facebook or something, you may be challenged to work a certain amount of time or stitches on a particular project. I hope you got your quilt and baby announcement done!

Love your work! I am very curious - Why so many whips? Do you stitch fast? Or not feel “complete” without so many?
@Handworkmaniac2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cathy! I was a "one at a time" stitcher for at least 20 years, and really enjoyed it. But for some reason, at this point in my life, I really enjoy having many WIPs to switch around between. It is nice to take a break from a really high count fabric, or a tedious 1 over 1 section, and work on something different for a while. Just personal preference :)
