Thanks for doing this comparison, Chris! I have been wanting to get a backpack spray and have honestly been on the fence on whether to get a battery or pump powered sprayer. I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet but it is one of the pieces of equipment I hope to get this year. Thanks again! 👍😎

Got the same backpack sprayer ... question ... when you apply pre-emergents or micro nutrients and want to cover entire lawn, which tip do you use? The blue one? Grey one? or the metal one? Which one is the correct one for somewhat even application? Thank you.

What is the point of putting the strainer in after the solution has already been poured into the backpack? Wouldn't it be better to mix the product and water in a separate, measured container first, then pour onto the backpack with the strainer in place?? Thank you for taking the time to do this comparison, I just ordered my 105Ex from Amazon.

Chris, I have about an 18,000 square foot lawn; very close to your size. I've been staying away from liquid applications for years despite the cost savings because I felt like using a sprayer for an 18k sq-ft. area would be ridiculous. How did you like using the backpack sprayer vs using a spreader with the granular? I'm in my comfort zone with the broadcast spreader, but is the backpack sprayer just as easy? I feel like I'd be doing a lot more work since the granular could reach further with each pass.... but maybe I'm wrong.
@handydadtv5 жыл бұрын
OMG spraying is definitely out of my comfort zone! And last year’s debacle with marking blue all over me was certainly a setback. That’s why I trashed the Chapin. But I bought a 10-year jug of Prodiamine, so I’m committed to mastering this!
@nodd855 жыл бұрын
@@handydadtv lol, Good reason to continue. I checked and unfortunately the 5-lb jug of Prodiamine isn't allowed to be shipped to NY, so I can't use it anyway. So many lawncare products I used to buy online are now banned here. NY is the leading state in banning everything! The plan is to ban all fertilizers within the next few years in NY, the Long Island region to start. So we won't be able to use anything anymore. Only companies with a license will be able to purchase and apply them, which sucks for homeowners, but will be great for companies like TrueGreen since their will legitimately be no DIY option soon.

Chris great video. One question...I thought that prodiamine was supposed to be applied at 1 gal water plus the prodiamine to every 1,000 sq ft. Looks like you applied 3 gal with enough product for the 7k sq ft over the 7k sq ft. Is this ok to do or is it supposed to be 1 gal for every 1,000 sq ft?

The label says 0.5 gal of water per 1,000 sf. So my mix was, technically, a little rich. No ill effects as of yet.

Well explained, but if you plan to use the tank for different types of product applications, consider cross contamination of products .. Not a very good idea. Manufactures should consider removeable tanks. In essence one sprayer with multible tanks. . Only one on the market that I am aware of is the milwaukee
@handydadtv4 жыл бұрын
I agree. Even with a triple rinse, they never come clean. It’s a good idea to have three sprayers: one dedicated for “inside” treatments (such as bug sprays) and the other two for outside (a dedicated one for anything that kills the lawn, like glyphosate, and the other for sprays that don’t kill the lawn (weed killer, mosquito control, fleas/ticks, etc.)
