I am so happy to find this video!!! I wanted to upgrade my fan switch, but I have no idea of electrical wiring and I was so afraid to set my house on fire. I decided to do it myself after this man very clear explanation of each wire and how to connect each other. I did it!Thank you so much!!!

I've always wanted a remote controller for my ceiling fan and this is exactly the one I want. I have a 2 gang box where it's actually 1 switch controlling an outlet behind my bed, and the other controls both a ceiling fan, and the light beneath it, which is what I am seeing in this video and this switch could definitely work.

Glad it was helpful 👍🏻

Did you also connectt the fan light the switch? You didn’t show the light working in the video. There was a mention of physical dimmer in the video but wasn’t sure if that was for the fan light or something else.
@handydadtv9 күн бұрын
Yes this device controls both the fan speed and dims the light.

A lot of reviews on Amazon say that speed control is sketchy and first 3 levels are very slow before Level 4 going full blast. Have you noticed this? Is there a way to manually calibrate all 4 speed settings?
@handydadtvАй бұрын
That’s my daughter’s house and she hasn’t complained. I will ask her. I doubt it can be calibrated.

This model is it working any celling fan sir? Or can you recommend me which model celling fan i can do, thank you

Should work with any fan with pull chains. It can’t have a remote.

How bright are the lights on the switch itself in a dark room with the fan on? And are there any lights illuminated on the switch when everything is off? Thanks for the vid!
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
It may be configurable (I didn’t check), but there were no lights when off and only the buttons at the bottom stay lit when on. The sliders only stay lit shortly after touching them.

My fan and light are on 2 separate swtiches in the same panel. Im assuming this would still work if i stretched one of the wires over from the second switch? I'd probably just leave the 2nd switch as a blank switch so there's not an awkward hole there.
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
Yes, this is perfect if you have two switches. You can get a blank Decora insert instead of leaving a dead switch.

@@handydadtv That's a smart idea, thanks! I'm going to have to check out my bedroom switches tonight for compatibility. Living room is the 2-switch setup, but bedrooms have one switch for both. The 1-switch ones already have remote controls for separate fan and light controls with receivers installed in the ceiling unit. Not sure if there are separate fan and light wires coming from the switch though. Wife wants the smart phone ability, though, so we need a replacement.

Can the app change the direction of the fan. Like in the summer counterclockwise and in the winter clockwise?
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
No. The fan will have a physical switch to reverse it. Sometimes it’s under the globe of the light.

I have a ceiling fan but it's wall switch only has 3 wires: black, red, and ground copper. It has a remote control that controls the fan speed and the light. How can I use this with it?
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
You can’t use this with a remote.

Will this work if I have two switches making a 3way connection
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
Sort of. I’d remove the second switch. Since this is a smart switch, you wouldn’t need the second switch anyway.

I don't know why they can't just make a fan control switch. My house was built with two switches in every room.
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
@saliston KASA only makes a combo switch. Lutron makes one that only controls the fan, but it’s around 50% more and requires a hub. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHiWeKl_fNmYd9U

@@handydadtv with my room I have three way switch but only single gang box so I would need to add a new double gang box to hold the second switch
@jeremiahpowell30283 ай бұрын
@@saliston also would need new wiring cause it’s wired to control the fan and light on for what ever the chains are set at on the fan

Great channel but dont cheap out with WIFI automation. Lag's. Use Zibee or Zwave instead.
@handydadtv3 ай бұрын
I have all of the above with Home Assistant but KASA is my #1 brand for simple smart switches.
@bnubile3 ай бұрын
WiFi does not have lag that exceeds other protocols. I have zwave and it has delay sometimes and the setup for zwave is a pain compared to WiFi. I have lots of Kasa devices as well. For the most part they are cheaper and they perform well. I’m working on phasing out my zwave devices.
