Great video! I'm getting ready to do this on my trailer this weekend. Luckily my trailer has a tube-style rails that I think I can put the springs inside of the rail.

Awesome, I found the video. Thank you. You have dealt with all the stuff I am dealing with before I have. Very cool my friend. Thanks again.

No problem, enjoy the project!

What we used is square with a round wait on the inside. Get the weight of the tailgate. Split the weight period on both sides. And a round pulley for the top and a quarter inch cable. They have new Springs.

The springs need to be on the outside of the trailer. I mounted them on my trailer . Worked way better!

@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
It's close to the end, so I just inserted it at an angle.

is this better than gorilla lift?
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
Probably not, but they didn't make one to fit this way for landscaping trailers.

I used this video to do my 10" trialer. The PVC was 2" dia. and I used 8" 11'" of PVC.. Used a 130# spring on a tailgate that weighted 65# when down on the ground on a bathroom scale. It now goes up or down 2 fingers. Works GREAT !
@Rein_Ciarfella10 ай бұрын
@@kennethgunderman9086 Thank you very much for posting these details! I’m not clear whether you did this on both sides or only one, since the spring has enough strength to lift the entire gate.
@trenthearl13435 жыл бұрын
Those springs look like theyre already screwed. Lost their memory! They were clearly working too hard with your previous set up!
@HandyGuy20165 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I ended up replacing them because they were too stretched out.
