So cool! I live in Melbourne and want to go to a hanfu event but I haven't heard of any in my area :") I wear hanfu casually and am so happy that there is a growing number of hanfu enthusiasts in Australia.

Hanbok has a different style than hanfu, although it might look quite the same to the undiscerning eyes. I still say the hanbok is influenced by Chinese hanfu since Chinese civilization is more advanced than Korean civilization at that time( less advanced follows the more advanced in terms of the arts, culture, writing, dressing and the likes). Korean borrowed the Chinese writing because Koreans didn't have a writing system then. It's only during the time of king sejeon when he invented the Korean alphabet because he found it hard to study Chinese?

wow..people were getting butthurt over Hanfu vs Hanbok? Having lived in both countries you can clearly tell which is which. But it also depends on the dynasties. At a certain point there is a convergence and divergence in styles.

Korea was Vassal state of China, So it is not difficult debate. korean hanbok is orignated from Hanfu, not other way around.

Not necessarily. Cultural exchange always runs in more than one direction, even if one party is more powerful.

I can't agree with you more, the cultural influence is mutual, Chinese and Korean people argue about the origin of the issue, back to the history, most of it is China's influence on Korea, so Chinese people are angry for the Korean people to deny that they are influenced.They even claim in turn that China stole their culture. I am a Chinese, we never want to take Korean culture as our own, in fact, the cultures of different countries have changed constantly over the years. But in most of the design, they still have the Chinese influence, but they deny this, which makes me angry

🤔 plz dont mistake others . hanfu and hanbok are very different(some seem similar cause ming dynasty influence,but majority of hanbok are different from hanfu) if you check hanfu and hanbok on ins, you will find they dont look similar

i know some korean,vietnamese take hanfu element or even hanfu itself and claim its hanbok or whatever. (its funny that sometimes they even use chinese ancient paintings to prove its hanbok) most of the korean dont know theargument between hanfu and hanbok,just like Chinese.

As a Korean I have to say that Hanfu and Hanbok are completely different. Since Hanbok was worn from a long time ago, it is hard to specify where and when exactly this is from. Some say it does come from China's Ming Dynasty, but some other expersts say it is from parts of the middle Asia. But wherever its from, Hanbok passed down to us from hundreds of years ago. So seeing Hanfu and Hanbok identically is wrong. Yeah and I know that there actually IS an attire called Hanfu. But the problem is that the Chinese are insisting Hanbok is not actually Hanbok, but is Hanfu. Then calling it their own culture. So please. Chinese people. Distinguish you guys' own culture and ours. We respect ur Hanfu and other traditional clothes such as the Mandarin gown. JUST DONT MESS WITH OURS.

I think Hanbok should be called as Chosun Ot, its name in North Korea to avoid confusion. Hanbok is too South Korean centric.
