One of the few HG videos with comments, and interest ones at that! Good work and keep it coming

i flew my Hang glider all around the texas flatlands between 1980 to 84 using a soarmaster power unit to foot launch and cross the big sinking air between thermals, your videos brings back great memories .

Sounds amazing, and smart to have some power to cross sink. If I had that, I wouldn't mind doing a large triangle. Do you have documentation or footage from those days?

That is probably the best edited video I've seen of a cross-country hang gliding flight in the flatlands.

I agree flatland flying views are excellent. Thanks for sharing!

It still depends on where you are. Green Farmland mixed with forest is pretty to me, barren dusty desert is not.

I have only flatland flew in Ohio, North Carolina and Florida and all are gorgeous. I love the desert but see how that could be less pretty.

Awesome flight and thanks for the commentary. I would love to paraglide there someday. I also am intrigued by flat land flying and being a beginner XC pilot my goal is to make it to the valley from my local Sierra Nevada foothills launch sites. As I’m just getting into XC with a couple 10 mile triangles and about 7 mile open distance being my farthest flights on a A wing (I know that’s just a glide for you) but now I’m learning how to fly my new high-B wing which has an incredible jump in glide ratio especially while using the speed system I feel like once I’m comfortable on it I’ll easily fly much further. I basically went from a 7:1 glide ratio on my open harness and beginners glider to 9.5:1 on my pod harness and high-B wing, but of course that comes with much more pilot demand in strong conditions, and I’m not quite there yet with only 4 flights to push hard. But I’ll get there.

Have you ever just flown to a friends house instead of driving?
@sohamhanggliding2 жыл бұрын
Haha not yet, but it’s definitely possible if the friend has a large backyard and is within reasonable distance of a mountain or a towing site
