July 2022. Correction: At 2:37 the text should read "July 2020, a year before the Dixie fire", not "a month"

Thanks for sharing, Soham. Very inspiring. As Gary M said, your deep analytical skills and broad knowledge are admirable and must be invaluable for a safe flight. Humble request to maybe have a video on these techniques and how to 'read' / assess weather conditions? Thanks

Thanks Yatin, I’ll think about that idea. There are several instructional talks including weather on @bayareafledglings

Thanks for posting this Soham. Gives a great perspective on the mountain range. I’ll see you there this weekend!

Great job, Soham! Your narration and labels really makes this video so much more interesting, rather than the standard boring hg vids with nothing but wind noise and nice but ultimately repetitive views. Something to aspire to, myself 🙂

I always enjoy your videos. I started flying back in 1974 on a glider I built in my driveway. I flew till the early 90's and the last glider I owned was a Wills Wing sport. That gives you an idea of the performance we had at that time when I stopped. I must admit I was never as skillful a pilot as you. I truly admire your analytical abilities during flight and also your skill as a pilot. There must be many other old timers reminiscing as they watch your videos. Thank you for filming and editing these videos for our enjoyment. I wish you good health and safe flying.

Thanks Gary, that means a lot to me. One of the locals at this site has been flying since the 80s and I’m sure he could relate a lot to your experience.

Awesome videography and editing skills as well flying abilities. I’ve been hang gliding every year since 72 when I was 19 and just got my first flight of 2023 a few days ago. I am so amazed at the advancements in our sport! - New England pilot, Nick Caci

Great video! Great narration! I flew here 30 years ago, usually on the 4th of July weekend. I needed to get out of the bussy Tahoe area. XC is super hard in Indian Valley! You did a super good job👍

Thanks George, please share any documentation or footage from those days if you have any. Even though long XC flights are difficult, Indian Valley is a special place to fly and I try to fly there every year.

Soham, I recall you sharing your early journey into the life-enriching/changing world of hang gliding with me (and so many others) on FB. It has been such a rewarding experience for this old-timer to follow you in the sport. Thanks for sharing your adventures...

Thanks Phil, that means a lot to me. I enjoyed watching your videos from the 70's of the early days. Hang-gliding equipment has improved so much since then, but unfortunately interest from the general public has declined.

Heyyy. Great video man. I'm having little luck locating a local club to connect with. Do they have a website? I'm in El Dorado county. P4 paraglider. Be stoked to fly with you anytime somewhere.
