Ford steering wheel. I had a 1996 Ford Clitaurus. Bought from my buddys granny.t had 50k kms 30k miles. I got it for a smoken deal of $1,500.00 used it for my painting and decorating buisness. Great work wagon.

Not normally a fan of patina on anything but I gotta say that ‘58 that was beside that green Suburban had me thinking differently about it, it looked way cool. That bumper sticker was nice, my favourite that I’ve seen on a square body was “ If it was meant to go fast, it wouldn’t be shaped like a brick” that truck show was way cool

The diesel engine in the IH ramp truck is a Ford. They were first used in the 8000,9000,8600,9600 Ford farm tractors (8000,8600 naturally aspirated). In the 80's Ford used it in the larger trucks in foreign markets, although some found their way here. The trucks were nicknamed Columbian Ford's. Very good engine. Honestly it should have been used instead of the 1st series 6.9, 7.3. No cold starting issues. No glow plugs.

Money is in short supply for me, so I probably won't be at any shows, unless they're local. BUT, people like me are there in spirit! 😎 Squarebody trivia: There were no extended cabs produced from the 1973-87 model years (or the previous years for that matter) only regular cabs and crew cabs. Man.. I think the 2 tone blue Big 10 square body with the obligatory aftermarket interior color matched cooler / cup holder / center console is one of my favorites. I have an OBS, 1989 (just missed the sq. body oh well) single cab long bed 2x4 4.3l. It's beat up but solid as a rock, has 145,000 original miles, no emissions bs on it.. it starts every time, stops when I tell it to and it can tow anything I have thrown at it (seriously). Brother picked it up for a smokin' 800 bucks right when covid hit JUST BEFORE prices went insane on running used cars. Probably NEVER going to let that truck go, slowly going to do the floor pans and whatever rust is underneath (it's very clean though for a Philly / South Jersey truck. Unfortunately it spent a couple summers down the Shore so it's got some salt issues, but it's still very very clean underneath (little surface rust, needs a back brake line, the usual stuff) but man it glides like a Cadillac on the road, I don't think it was ever abused, it's got bucket seats in it.. it's a good truck to have in the driveway. It's nice in NJ there's no inspections on any passenger vehicle prior to OBDII since they really can't read it (you can but it's not great). When I think of the number of Ford and Chevrolet trucks I owned between 1967 and 1996 I can’t help but wonder why anyone would put so much money into trucks I used to buy for little to nothing at all. Now I don’t mean that as a slam against square body trucks. It’s just that, they were a dime a dozen in the 1980’s and 1990’s. I had three 1980 to 1984 trucks that I drove out to the fence line and stole parts off of for other vehicles in order to keep my work trucks going. When I was a young’un people were hot rodding coupes and two door sedans from the 1930’s to 1950’s. Then about the time I got interested in hot rods it was Tri-five Chevys and Fords. I owned and drove three ‘55 Chevy 2 door posts during 1972 to 1974. I never paid more than $700.00 for any of them. In 1974 I bought a 1956 Chevy Nomad from a local body man that he had restored. I paid $400.00 and one of the ‘55 2 doors for it. I had to find an engine for the Nomad so I took one of the 327 cu in engines I’d previously put into one of the other 55’s. Then sold that 2door post for $200.00. I owned the Nomad until 1994. I’m telling you all of this because I love what people are doing with the old square bodies. Just like the ‘32 and‘40 Ford coupes and the ‘55 Chevy 2 doors of yesteryears, the mid 1970’s trucks are becoming the new standards in customs and hot rods. It gives me confidence that the hobby will live on. Finally after all these years, the popular saying from the 1960’s; “Keep on Truckin” seems so much more appropriate
