Buckin' you're telling the truth when you say you're changing the world. You're a class act all the way around, brother! I'm glad I found your channel. I am new to working with power saws and have learned a tremendous amount from you in a short time. Your positivity comes through the screen. THANK YOU

My guy turned me on to this video and I love it! He loves restoring old axes and has a DCIFF double bit axe. We have researched it and can't find any information about it. We love your spirituality and we believe the same. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A master of his craft at work! If you’ve said it once you’ve said it 100 times, it’s all in the fit! Sometimes you just have to experiment with things and figure out what works for you. Thank you for everything that you do for us buckin! Love to you and the family❤️

Hey Buckin' a little tip for when your using your draw knife hold it on an angle meaning one handle closer to you than the other ether side don't mater so you get more of a slice than a jam more control think about when you cut a tomato you don't go straight down you slice right! same concept give it a try you will like the result's also get a scraper save your sharp edge on your draw knife makes working the wood more enjoyable Love your videos man

I agree the little gap isn't hurting nothing my wedge bangers got one parracord wrap never see it great video buckin cant wait to see you guys on axe men be kind Friends

This was exactly what I needed to see. I’ve been fitting one with just a slight gap at the front. I could take more wood but, then I risk moving past my peak. The fit is awesome all the way around and has curl everywhere except that little bit in the front….. not gonna worry about it.

I run into the same thing brother, especially with a head with lugs. Have to go way down to get the handle to come out proud on the top. Working on a Kelly Woodslasher currently. It'll be the 30th axe I've hung since I started.

The right handle for the right axe head.. a little tweaking and rubbing, and there you go.. a perfect fit :) Can hardly wait until Axe Men is aired here, it's coming a little later than overseas, but, as you know..he who awaits something good.. and all of that mumbo jumbo.. Haha!! All the best, welcome to the freshmen, and ladies of course :)

Love the axe content! Great tid bits for the start of the morning. I’m working one now that will also require me to eat a ton of wood to close that gap...gottta do what ya gotta do :). Thanks and HELLO ARMY!

I've done a few jerseys, they definitely take some patience. But man they are wicked looking axes. I have a nice 4 pound plumb I'm waiting on a handle for. I can't wait! Nice work hoss.

I don't know what's right or wrong but when I use my draw knife, I generally have the bevel, down. By lifting or pushing down on the handles while I pull, I can slightly rock the edge on the bevel and can finesse how much of the edge "Bites".

Billy you educate us, I knew 1 thing about Axes... ....those hardware models I have bought are too Soft to maintain an Edge. Which made Fiscars very tough steel, catch my attention. But ya cannot use them to drive a wedge. Seems i’ve walked in a circle ⭕️

I've had a gap like that on a couple of hammer heads I did. In one instance I had to fill it with a small, homemade wedge put in from below.

That little space doesn’t hurt the performance at all. Get yourself a Shinto Rasp. It removes wood so much faster and cleaner. You’ll never pick up a spokeshave again.

Yes i have had this issue and i can tell what NOT to do to fix it. don't keep bringing the head down until the the back of the eye is almost right at the point where the handle curves in so there's no taper behind the eye to hold it .the gap at the front was gone but the head started working its way down at the back and loosened up.

I think if I was going to remove wood from the end of a handle I would use the nose of a belt sander. I think that would be easier and quicker.
