PRO TIP: Make an access behind the shower with a simple door or removable panel so you can get to the drain and the shower valve. Easy now, very hard in a few years when you might need to access it. Happy New Year to ya'all!!! Cheers from Texas!

Please do, or 37 years later, you will wished you had, been there, now repair it often because it's too hard to replace valve.

I asked about the floor insulation the other day. Definitely need to insulate that floor asap. It will help immensely. Your furnace will not have to work as long or as hard.

Just remember when you trim inside the box or trim a window or door with the rotozip sheetrock tool you are going clockwise. When you are cutting out for an outlet box you run the tool counterclockwise because your on the outside of what your trimming. It has to do with the direction the bit spins and how it wants to pull away from or towards what your trimming because of the rotation of the bit.

Obviously you know Tux is my favorite part of the push-ups...but if you watch him this time, he is watching Sara the whole time and sees her struggling a little...his head bobs up and down just slightly in rhythm with her, like he's coaching her on..and then he goes and touches her head to tell her to push harder...he's so cute...we love him

Remember water freezes at 32 degrees, especially in the attic where there is not much, if any heat, that includes drains too. I knew of an office that had water pipes in the attic. One winter when it got awful cold, and power went out, those water pipe froze and busted, this was during Christmas holidays and no one in the office. Some one noticed water running out there door, and called it in. Have you ever seen a big, really big water bubbles behind wall paper? about 3" of water on the floors, all furniture had water stains 3" up on it, Luckily the in insurance paid for the damage.

You might have drain issue in the future having the furnace installed in a none conditioned space the drain line can freeze
@gaguy22 жыл бұрын
Imagine a drain trap, under the floor freezing, then you take a shower, now the drain is frozen, where does the water go, in the floor, eventually. Seen it happen before.
@GlenS1232 жыл бұрын
The drain you swapped is correct, but the unused one for verticle position can't be left hanging. That is allowing flue gasses back in the burner compartment. It should be capped / plugged.

Failure to clean the snow off your vehicle is against the law in most states. The reason being is the snow blowing off your vehicle hitting the windshield of the vehicle behind you good cause blindness of the vehicle behind or even worse breaking their windshield closing in a serious accident. Set a good example for your children learning to drive. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and you all have a happy and prosperous new year.

The furnace has to be drained directly to a drain. There will be lots of water when using the furnace. Water is a byproduct of propane burning.

Love seeing you use the trick with the drywall square. Heard your struggle with it moving. Hubby said put foot on bottom to hold it and hand at top, then run the knife. He also says try cutting from face side, not paper side. One final tip, the board you put up with marker or something written on it may bleed through your paint. May need to check that out. Keep smiling! You guys are awesome!

After it is dried out where the Sheetrock became damp please seal the patch with a suitable sealer paint, before you try to paint that area, or you may have stains coming through the paint in future. It is an easy fix at this stage. I had to reroute our condensate pipe as the water ran out slowly and pooled. It froze up in cold weather and shut down the boiler.

Condensing furnaces cannot be set at the low temperatures you’ve been setting it. When our Lennox furnace was installed horizontally in our crawlspace earlier this year, the technicians told us that you should not set it bellow 59 degrees otherwise the furnace doesn’t run long enough and build up enough heat to properly eliminate the condensed water. Check with your HVAC vendor.
No sniffing glue! You almost made Mike choke on his dinner laughing. Lol.

you guys should be sealing all penetrations from the garage that goes through the floors into your living area. To keep fire, Carbon monoxide, and smells from getting into your apartment. The sealing should be done using a special fire-resistant calk. Want to keep you folks safe.
@WarpFactor9992 жыл бұрын
YES!! The key words and tricky phrases here is "special fire resistant caulk!" Get some and use it liberally!!!! This is a HUGE safety issue. Plus the exhaust smell of cars in the garage below is really bad.

I saw a bare copper pipe in that space behind the tub. I would highly recommend that pipe be wrapped. If you are getting air in from the garage it could potentially freeze.
@beverlystafford6202 жыл бұрын
My husband professionally hung drywall for years. He sends this advice: Make sure you use a special drywall bit( 3/8”). On electrical boxes you go counter clockwise on the outside of the box. Go from the center to the inside edge then over the box to the outside edge. Use it clockwise to cut out windows and doors (any area that will need to be cut flush). I hope this was helpful.

its hard to cut because again your cutting the back your suppose to cut the front plus it makes for a smoother cut and less likely to bust a chunk of sheetrock out of it.

That is exactly the reason I would not allow the HVAC contractor to put my A/C in the attic. It's never a question of if things will go wrong, the question is WHEN they go wrong. They ALWAYS will. (Dave's engineering rule #1.)

I just wanted to give you a heads up if you don't already know. The condensation water from your vent on your furnace is not just water like what you get from the A/C. It is a very acidic water and is very corrosive . It should be drained away via PVC pipe. Not ABS pipe because ABS doesn't have the resistance . You could also add a condensation neutralizer kit by the furnace . But two things to remember if you do that is 1) you will need to replace the filter media every once in a while and 2) make sure to have a by pass line around the kit, just in case it gets plugged.
