Hanging Lake is SWEET!!! Full Hike With Commentary

What an amazing hike Hanging Lake is!
Located off I-70 near Glenwood Springs, CO, this 3 mile round trip hike packs a ton of reward for a bit of effort. You do have to climb over 1,000 feet, but it's hard to believe you're so close to the interstate.

My permit was checked almost instantly, so make sure to grab one before you go try to hike here.
This video takes you on a full hike from the parking lot to Hanging Lake and Spouting Rock, an amazing waterfall only a few hundred feet from the lake.
This video is at 2x speed, and I tend to be a bit of a fast hiker, so give yourself some extra time.
A few things to remember about this hike in winter:
1) Leave no Trace! Leave only footprints, take only pictures, kill only time.
2) Bring traction. Some sort of spikes such as Kahtoola Microspikes or Yak Trap, or similar. Also some sort of poles would be a great idea as well.
I love this hike! Would definitely recommend getting out there. One of the most popular hikes in Colorado!

Thx for posting this! We stayed in Glenwood Canyon 2 years ago. Did this hike among others and rafting, biking as well. Hike was one of our highlights

I find Spouting Rock particularly impressive in winter. Great hike in any season.
