Thanks so much Eli. Put tears in my eyes. I lived and studied in Izhevsk almost 25 years ago now. Its my "Russian home town". More than just an industrial city of course. УдГУ had a super program for foreign students (I visited a few different universities in Russia before choosing Udmurtia), plus there was an amazing English program at School 27, where dozens of native English speakers like myself volunteered over the years. But more than anything, was the kindness and generosity of the people in Izhevsk and Udmurtia. Like nowhere else I've ever lived or visited. ❤❤

Where is the problem ? Only tiny complication is that you can not fly to Moscow directly, but through Turkey or Belarus. And you need to exchange your money to rubles, because Visa or Mastercard do not work in Russian ATMs now. OR you can make your ruble bank account, even with MIR debit card via internet before arrival.

Hi Eli! Congratulations on your trip to Udmurtia and the story of these old women, the babushkas, who had a great idea to present themselves at Eurovision with the noble aim of rebuilding the church in their village is touching. But I think they have done much more and also thanks to your video, many foreigners will want to visit Udmurtia and the village of these lovely grandmothers. However, Udmurtia presents itself as an uncontaminated place made of simplicity and very ancient traditions which, in my opinion, must be protected and never abandoned. I would never change the social and natural status of these people and places to preserve this pristine beauty and goodness of mind of these simple people. Thank you for this touching video in the depths of my soul and, I salute you and I hug you.😊

As an American who really loves Russian firearms and military surplus, going to the IZHMASH/Kalashnikov Concern museum is one of my biggest dreams as I’d love to see the place where they are made and see all of the rare AK variants that you’d never find here in the US. I was shocked to see that they even let you shoot some of them there. Though it was definitely interesting to see what else Udmurtia has to offer. Having a bunch of Babushki sing live seems like it’s quite an experience. Sometimes it’s the small, little things that make some place so charming. A really good video as always, thank you for sharing your adventures.

Eli, thank you so much for this wonderful video! Your face was beaming with joy sitting and talking with the Babushkas and they looked so happy to be in your presence. I hope you keep in touch with them! The word Babushka means something special to me and the reason will make you laugh and every one else. As a little girl, my nickname from my Father was "Babushka". My hair was real curly like boingy like little springs and sort of bushy. I think my Father thought the word "Babushka" meant "Curly hair". Not until many many years later, I looked up the word and of course,an old Russian woman or grandmother and a woman's scarf. He clearly didn't know what a "Babushka" was, but he sure loved calling me that. God bless.

Wow, I was just taking for granted that every act in Eurovision is just assembled by some producers and optimized for scoring points. It didn't even cross my mind that the Buranovo Babushkas might actually just be a group of babushka friends from Buranovo who like to sing together. That is so wholesome! Also, this video is brilliantly done on many levels. I hope the church they built with their tour money stands forever!

That was really beautiful to watch Eli, and thank you, and thank you the Urdmurt people and Babushkas for sharing their lives. I will share this with people from Europe and America who really need to understand Russia and your values a lot better. I am not sure if you speak German, but one of the Babushkas I got to know there always said, "man nimmt nichts mit" which means we take nothing with us when we die. We come into the world with nothing and leave with nothing. It is what give and provide to others that really counts, and you do that wonderfully well. Thanks again.

Hi Eli! I had the opportunity to attend both Izhevsk and Perm on business some years ago - sadly during these visits the cultural aspects were all left uncovered. Seeing your clips really makes me long for a repeat visit - were it not for the current political situation. Thanks for reviving my memories on all - no, most - of the people I worked with.
