Mythbusters tested the door thing years ago, the size-adjusted door’s buoyancy alone was *barely* enough to hold both Adam and Jamie without it completely capsizing on them, but getting them both on there took several tries and they were still in quite a lot of water once they were on, presenting a real possibility of both freezing to death before they could be rescued. The solution the Mythbusters found was tying Rose’s life jacket to the underside of the door, which provided the necessary boost to allow them both to climb on comfortably. So technically, yes, the myth was busted and they could have both survived, but realistically, you’re unlikely to be thinking of those kind of genius solutions when you’re delirious from the freezing cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean in the middle of the night.

I read that if both were on the door evenly then they might both freeze, so rose being on the door as much as possible meant she was less in the freezing water and had a higher survival chance. Kind of a one person dead or both people dead situation. But of course, it's a made up movie anyway :)

Sometimes I feel my colleagues perceive me similarly on work. When discussing something, I'm always thinking and expressing some new thoughts, which confuses them. It's good when brainstrorming something, but it also makes casually explaining things too difficult.

Omg, I'm having flashbacks to my stepmom (who has trouble following a conversation on a good day) living in a house filled with undiagnosed adhders...

You need to do one on ADHD superpowers, because it does come with some benefits! Hyperfixation can allow you to get jobs done so fast - I remember doing a summer internship in an office and after the first couple weeks they were running out of things for me to do, renting me out to other departments, and finally being told flat out to slow down. Emergency services can be excellent work, because it can go from boring and slack to crazy with so much going on at once, then back to chill. It is honestly ideal! And don't even get me started on the absolute encyclopedia of random facts the brain decides are of the utmost importance to remember, and which often come out at inopportune times.

The problem is there is so much variation. Some people with ADHD excel in chaotic situations, others crumble under the pressure and have an extremely low stress tolerance. Same goes for hyperfixation; for some, it is directed towards something useful and lasts for a while, but for others it causes them to miss critical details and ultimately leads to failure even on topics of interest. There is no one size fits all. When highlighting the super powers of ADHD (just as there are for virtually every neurological and mental disorder), it should equally be balanced with the negatives to encourage awareness of the fact that ADHD is a disability that can be helpful in very specific situations.

That’s just life with sisters and their girlfriends visiting. The key is to slip away while they are talking

This is how it feels to watch a movie with my kids.

I was formally diagnosed with ADHD, but people didn't believe me because I come off as low energy and don't talk much. If I spoke my mind, I would be all over the place and inadvertently annoy people.

We aren’t too fast and we aren’t too variable. They are just too slow and one note 😂❤

The banana peel made me feel better about the disaster that is my house and reminded me that clutter is not a moral failing.

Clutter is not a moral failing, no. However, it is not healthy to have trash around. It breeds flies and mice.

Poor George. It's like in Ttrpg group when you start tangenting hard and someone has to bring the group back to the scenario.

Imagine a conversation between someone with CDS or SCT and ADHD. One person would be dozing off while the other is walking back and forth, talking at 1,600 kph 😂

My sister is adhd and we were looking at the calendar for pride month and we reach intersex (12) then she starts talking about how this TikTok filter kept on giving her intersex when all she wanted was trans. During the tangent we watched, a video on gen z mental health, she explained different genshin ships and some songs.
