I’ve been learning a ton from your videos!!! But I wonder if you have another video on hanging parts that’s a little more specific? What is the best way to hang an AR mag, or an AR 15 rifle barrel.. that sort of thing.
@BransonCerakote3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Mags we use the really long hooks that came with the Cerakote hook kit back in the day. They go all the way through and hook on the bottom lip. Barrels we just wrap wire around the threaded area, and make a loop. Hang the loop on a hook, and go.

I appreciate all your videos as they are helpful to learn with! Any tips on how to hang a scope ?
@BransonCerakote6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. We normally unscrew an adjustment knob cover, and put a piece of wire on the threads. Screw the cap back on, and Bob's your uncle.

Great as always-If you have to take a gun apart for someone do you put it back together? What do you do if you aren't familier with how to disassemble a type of gun?
@BransonCerakote7 жыл бұрын
We charge a $50 bench fee for disassembly and re-assembly. Honestly, we do that to encourage people to do that themselves. KZbin is your friend.

Can acetone be used in 5 gal buckets? Also do you just use tape to avoid blasting and spraying feed ramps on the barrels??
@BransonCerakote3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. I'd figure it would eat the bucket. Nope, we use high heat plugs.

@@BransonCerakote is there anything that I could use to do a acetone bath I could find at Lowe's?
@BransonCerakote3 жыл бұрын
@@kirkwest6654 I know a lot of people that use big stainless steel cooking pans. It really depends on what size item you need to soak. We just use simple green. You don't have to worry about it eating containers.

I have 5 pairs of hemostats that I can use to hold the wires and other micro pins. They are easy to hang too. I bought several style magnets after visiting your shop. I am needing to make a ridge system to keep Oakley ear pieces from flapping in the wind while the oven fan is running.
@BransonCerakote7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reminding me about the hemostats! I can't believe I left those out. I have a bunch of cheap ones from harbor freight. I use them for a few things, but completely forgot them for the video. I wire the oakley stems and hang them on a hook. Try hanging them on a couple of hooks daisy chained together to get them lower in the oven. Sometimes you just need to get them lower than the fan.
@horsefly10203 жыл бұрын
Best thing I've found for ar-15 lower is a old buffer tube. drill a hole in the end to put wire thru to hang.

I like a piece if 1/4 all thread. Easy to hold when threaded into grip. Easy to bend and hang..
@davidlantagne40153 жыл бұрын
How are you hanging barrels? For a pistol barrel, I just put a screw into the bore plug and hang on wire. It didn't work so well on a rifle barrel as I heard it drop in the over and then back to the blast cabinet.
@BransonCerakote3 жыл бұрын
Pistol barrels, we run a piece of wire through a high heat plug. The plug goes in the chamber, and the wire runs out the muzzle. Twist the end into a knot, and hang on a hook. Rifle barrels we generally plug the chamber, but just wrap wire around the muzzle threads, and hang on a hook.

These videos have been so helpful esp for little hacks. Can you do a video on tight tolerances and cerakote as to how it can affect those tolerances and maybe what to do in some of those instances? I just did a sig p250 and I'm having some issues with getting it back together. I believe it's a build up on the slide where barrel goes through. Oh and another thing. Sight removal from pistols and reinstall of the sights without maring the coating when putting back in place.
@BransonCerakote7 жыл бұрын
The only real reason why you'd have tolerance issues would be putting too much coating down. The only wild card in that statement is the 1911. Everyone has tolerance issues with those, and I have yet to find a good fix for it. I usually end up filing it down with a small file. Sight removal isn't really an issue because you are going to be coating over any scratches anyway. Putting them back on, I just use a lot of lube and a sight pusher. I have three different ones and just use the one that fits the best. They are a pain, and just take patience. I use cut up credit cards to cushion the metal on metal areas. Also, if the customer wants the sights to match the finish, I just tape off the face. Another option is, if they have crap sights, talk to them about replacing them with fiber optics. You can leave the bases in, and coat them the same color as the slide. Once they are out of the oven, you just replace the pipes. Fiber optics are cheap now a days.

Branson Cerakote thanks man.. I don't know if desert sage is one of those hard to lay down colors or what, but I've had fits with it.. missed spots that noticed once I got out oven, dry spray the other time, run on the front of the slide.. today will be my 4th time spraying it.. fingers crossed..
@BransonCerakote7 жыл бұрын
I've never really had any problems with sage. It's actually one of my favorite colors. I use that in almost every camp project I do. One trick you can use with the lighter colors, spray, air cure, then tack it for about 8 minutes or so. Take it out of the oven and let it cool. Take it out into the sun, and look it over. It lets you look for light areas in natural light. If you see any, just spray that area. Since it's not baked hard, there's no issue with adhesion. Dry spray and runs are probably just either gun setup or spray distance. Practice makes perfect. Been there too.

Can i put painters tape in the oven without bad things happening?
@BransonCerakote Жыл бұрын
We've found that the blue painters tape doesn't work well, but frog tape can handle 180 degrees for a couple of hours no problem.
@Human_Evolution- Жыл бұрын
@@BransonCerakote thanks, I do have bullfrog paint, however my notes say to pre-pake at 300 degrees and and ppst-bake at 250 degrees for series H. Do you just go 150 degrees then remove tape after awhile then crank it up?
@BransonCerakote Жыл бұрын
@@Human_Evolution- No. We reverse a couple of steps that Cerakote does (never had a problem). We degrease, offgas, then sandblast. One of the advantages is that we don't need to tape until we are ready to blast. It's already been through the high temp gas out (for metal).
