Hi Stjepan- not normally one to comment, but I’ve been watching your videos for a while and just recently used the prep from the Botvinnik English video to beat a opponent 450 points higher rated than me! Thank you for all the great content and good luck making it to 2500 :)

Queen Endgames are insane. I could follow the opening and middle game pretty well, but in the end I was totally lost

Really enjoying this series! Crazy how minor the mistakes are that decide games at your level. Sometimes you just have to give your opponent props though, they did blunder the opening but afterwards they defended almost perfectly and then played the endgame perfectly too. Both of your mistakes were non-obvious even after the fact, hope you don’t sweat it too much.

1:50 ne8 is a common idea. It helps to trade of dsb and then black can play g6, ng7 and help play bf5

The middlegame was a bit complex for my skills and my playstyle and you dealt with it much better than i'd do, despite the Qf3 miss noted on post-game analysis, but in the endgame, 42:27, why not hunt a queen trade in this position, with Qc2, black strucure is on white squares which should favor the bishop endgame. Yes, black can move the king side pawns do dark squares but this takes some tempi and it brings the pawns closer to you. And there is a possible passer on que queen side for black but worst case scenario you liquidate the king side pawns and have a safe draw on the pocket. Idk, I would go for this safe option, playing with the queens on the board on this position like you insisted seems (and it proved to be) really risky because it makes black queen side stronger. This endgame outcome is something to be considere at the middlegame. This is something a FM said me once, that i should always consider the endgame structure before it happens, at least you'll have some ideas and not feel so much time pressure by having to figure out everything on demand . (Black may not accept the trade but then you gain the C-file and you use the queen trade as a sort of "weapon")

I have a bit of a weird question. I’ve been playing chess for around 2 years now, I’m not a beginner but not extremely great either. I used to play ranked games but I’ve found playing anonymously without any ranking based matchmaking more enjoyable and fun. For the longest time I’ve been using the same handful of openings, Catalan as white, Petrov defense against e4, and I usually try to play a Catalan as black against D4. I don’t think these openings are in any way bad, but I’ve just found them to have gotten boring by now. Do you have any openings you would recommend that you think are particularly fun to play or lead to sharp and interesting matches? I’m not too worried about being able to win or how much theory the openings require, just looking for something new and interesting to try out.

The bird's opening might suit you; it's the Dutch defense with white pieces.

Hi, really love your content, and regularly dip into your videos, my one and only recommendation is if you could do shorter videos and limit at say 15mins. I love your 60min video but rarely get the time to enjoy your full videos in one sitting. In anycase keep making content :)

Why not king d2, slide away from the e file you should really take times in critical postions!!
@sam27253 ай бұрын
I actually like Ke2 a bit more then Kd2. There doesn't seem to be a good way to take advantage of the kings being on the half open e-file, and king on d2 might invite Ne4 someday
