Thank you for the high quality content! I really enjoy the clarity with which you present concepts, and the amount of material you cover. Thats great! I think one aspect you might improve is the correction of some small mistakes that sometimes occur in your variations. For instance, here at 18:10, I thought that Black can play Kh8 or h7 and White seems to have run out of attackers. Stockfish seems to say that Kh7 is actually good for Black. Maybe running a chess engine in the background to double check in real time the last moves of the lines you present could be useful, no? (While teaching, I think it can be very hard to focus on didactics, presentation and correction of small details at the same time, and I think you focussing on the general patterns is the right choice, that being said!)

An engine might be useful to ensure completely and accuracy, but I don't watch these videos for move accuracy.... I view them for the patterns and the ideas behind the particular pattern.... So, I wouldn't say an engine is a necessity.

I don’t fianchetto but have had trouble unlocking an attack on a fianchettoed castle. I’ve always seen it as a option for higher rated players. I’ve stayed with the regular 00 and. 000 but have felt uncreative by doing this. This is a very, very interesting instruction. Thank you, very much.

I love your videos. They are informative and enjoyable ! But just one clarification from an Italian native speaker: "fianchetto" is the diminutive of "fianco" which corresponds to the English words: side, flank or even hip (anatomy). So when you fianchetto your bishop, you are literally developing it on the flank. "Curtain" is "tenda" ;). Keep up the excellent content! I got addicted to your channel!

The content in this video is less obvious. I'd think that the player with the fianchetto's plans are generally obvious by the usual book lines (if the fianchetto is early enough to be part of the opening) So, for example in the Open Catalan can be a powerful weapon(which is why the closed Catalan is also popular). Some variations of the KID if white doesn't lock up the center the B can be a monster. In the Sicilian Dragon is a little bit tricky... You can think of the B as a less direct way of controlling the center compared to the non-Dragon lines where Black plays both the QP and KP forward one or two squares to contest the center.

I didn't quite understand how to do the exercise at the end. I found the game in the "Study" area of lichess, and I was able to play against the engine-and lose convincingly. But I got the impression that you meant lichess should be checking our moves against the ones actually played by Bobby Fischer in the game, and I wasn't able to work out how to do that.

Nice video and topic. In the first game I thought that white was doing well until he wasn't. Had to check with stockfish. Indeed stockfish says white was better all the way until Rh4 blundering from +0,5 to mate in 5!

What are some tips to defend an attack to the fianchetto? Maybe pushing a4/h4 as white or a5/h5 as black?

Watch some sicilian dragon games, I always push a4 in response to a5 because I see people do it a lot haha. Then if they go b5 and take, I recapture with the knight and block the file from the rook. I believe there’s a nice pawn sacrifice for white there but I’m low rated and I’ve never faced it.
