When you have low blood sugar you are literally not getting enough glucose for proper brain function. We’re not just being difficult for kicks or because “women are irrational” or whatever, our brains are literally not working properly because they don’t have the necessary fuel, which makes decision making or any kind of rational thought extremely difficult. And fyi, men can have hypoglycemia too. I inherited mine from my dad and he gets just as irrational and grumpy as I do when he’s really hungry. Best option is to plan ahead, come up with a list of things you both like, or a list of her favorites, and if she really cannot decide at the time, even after looking at the list, order/made one you know she loves. The primary objective is getting the person’s blood sugar up asap. Expecting them to be able to think rationally until you do that is a lost cause, it’s only going to get worse the longer they go without eating.

@autogatos2 жыл бұрын
@@SilvaDreams they’re not trying to play a game or doing this on purpose. It’s literally a medical issue that happens to some people because their bodies produce too much insulin. Look up hypoglycemia. Many of us who deal with this issue are just as horrified and frustrated by it as those around us but we have very little control over it while it’s happening because our brains are literally not getting the glucose they need to function properly, which causes severe mood swings and makes rational thinking impossible. It doesn’t always have to be like the above, obviously this is a comedy video (which I found very funny as someone who has hypoglycemia) and is showing the worst extreme, and a couple in a healthy relationship will work together to mitigate this issue (the hangry person working on being aware when it’s happening and warning the other person while trying to reign it in as much as they can and apologizing after for anything they can’t, their spouse helping them get food asap if they’re struggling with decision making or shakiness, and not taking their mood or comments personally). It’s obviously your choice who to date and you are perfectly free to reject anyone who has medical issues, but it’s kind of shitty and a losing battle because no one stays perfectly healthy their whole life (that includes you, I’m sure you’re not a shining ray of joy when you’re sick or in pain, and she only increases that struggle). So you either have to learn how to have some sympathy for people in these situations and how to have productive conversations about them, or just avoid long term relationships forever.
@SilvaDreams2 жыл бұрын
@@autogatos So you are attempting to use diabetes as an excuse for your poor behavior? The effects of hypoglycemia are anything but having lots of energy and raging. Nausea, vomiting, weakness, being light headed... Yes irritable to a degree but not raging tween from a grown adult. Yes as a normal human our blood sugar can get low too but that takes a bit longer, much more than a slightly late meal. My grandmother had issues with it over the years thanks to her some 60 years of diabetes and if anything it just made her weak, not combinative. As for sympathy... Well no. Understanding for those with medical issues yes but for those trying to use them as purely an excuse like you for acting poorly because I'm guessing you are born in the later 90's whom seem to think that anything can be used as an excuse for your childlike behavior flies because you were never forced into growing up and so never did.
@autogatos2 жыл бұрын
@@SilvaDreams It seems like you did not clearly read what I wrote. I don’t have diabetes. Diabetes is a different condition. Diabetics CAN experience hypoglycemia if they take too much insulin, but people can also have a genetic condition called reactive hypoglycemia which is where their blood sugar drops too low between meals or after a high sugar meal (often because their pancreas produces TOO MUCH insulin, causing their blood sugar to drop way faster than is normal), which is what this video is parodying. I have reactive hypoglycemia. The fact that your grandma never got combative during hypoglycemic episodes is not evidence that no one ever does. Please look up “hypoglycemic psychosis.” Maybe your grandma, being a diabetic, was on top of her symptoms enough that she never let it get too low before trying to fix it, or never took enough insulin to push it that far. Maybe she’s just lucky and doesn’t get extremely irritable when her brain isn’t getting enough glucose. But plenty of people do. Not everyone presents with every symptom, in the exact same way, but it is VERY WELL ESTABLISHED in medical literature that hypoglycemia can cause rage, extreme irritability, anxiety, mood swings, and irrational thinking. Mine always starts with nausea, shakiness, low energy, but if I let it go on too long the emotional instability gets worse. It’s like being trapped inside your own head while your mouth is saying things you didn’t want it to say, every irrational angry thought that pops into your head. Over years and years of practice I got better at reigning it in, and am now quick to take steps to get food asap when it’s happening and just try not to say anything until I’ve eaten and feel better. But the feelings are still there. And no, nice try, I was born in the 80s. I’m generally a very calm, rational, quiet, non-confrontational person. I’m the sort of person who apologizes for being an inconvenience when I need help with something, I go out of my way to be polite to strangers, I’m not quick to anger. I never got in trouble in school and rarely at home because I was terrified of upsetting anyone or doing anything wrong, and just wasn’t someone who acted out, or even spoke up much at all, and I NEVER talked back to parents or teachers. I was literally the quietest kid in almost every one of my classes. Most people who know me likely don’t even know I deal with this problem, because I work so hard to try to hide it, but those who live with me, people I am more comfortable with, inevitably see it at times (though not as bad as the above, this video is 1 a parody of the worst case extreme, and 2 would be an example of someone who hasn’t figured out how to manage it yet, but I had moments like that in my 20s and teens with boyfriends, until I met my current husband, who responded to it calmly and realized it was a medical issue and encouraged me to work on managing it with his support). So your analysis is completely off and shows a severe lack of understanding of this issue. It’s easy to just assume this sort of thing is just someone else being a brat, but how I act when my blood sugar is severely low is COMPLETELY different from how I act the rest of the time. It’s like a Jekyll and Hyde situation. And resolves immediately as soon as I’ve eaten enough to get my blood sugar back up. So no I am not using it to excuse bad behavior. This is a MEDICAL ISSUE. And genetic, both my dad (who is also quiet and non-confrontational) and my child (who is generally pretty well behaved and polite) experience it as well. I’m not saying anyone who gets hangry can explain any and all bad behavior in their life away as being a medical issue, but if someone ONLY acts like this when their blood sugar is low, and never any other time, and changes completely after eating like night and day, then yeah it is safe to say that is literally just their brain not getting enough glucose and they are not making “excuses” and it is probably very difficult for them to control (I have to use every ounce of my willpower now, after years of practice, to stay calm and not get snappy when my blood sugar is low, and I can often succeed but not always).

That is toxic. Girls who act like this are not adults. If they can’t handle not eating for a minimum of half a day how will they handle real life.

I hope she doesn't go full psycho on you like that minus her saying no to everything cause we all deal with that part

Logan Murdock Oh she goes nuts. If I forget a minor thing, like taking out the trash, she gets pissed off and remembers everything I’ve done wrong since we started dating. She’ll even start getting mad at me about stuff she did. “Why is The kitchen such a mess?! I have to do everything!” And it’s all of her baking stuff she left out the night before, or stuff she spilled in the morning that I didn’t even know about lol. If she’s in a good mood, she is the most chill and cool person ever. She never complains about my video games, or staying out late, or anything like that. It’s one extreme to the other, and it can happen real fast. Fortunately, I’m within a three minute drive to the nearest cheese pizza if it looks like it’s going to be really bad. That is the go-to food for her. She eats a slice or two of that and it’s like nothing happened.
