In a lot of states, if your dog doesn't have vax records and attacks someone/something, it can be put down to get a rabies test. Rabies test actually require the animal being euthanized because the virus is found in the brain. There is another way, which requires the dog be put into isolation for a certain amount of time, but that is risky. The virus can take weeks or MONTHS to show symptoms, and it varies from being to being. The victim could show symptoms before the attacker, which means it's already too late to save the victim. Once symptoms show, the chances of survival are nonexistent. And don't think this is me defending the owner. If that dog wasn't vaccinated, it SHOULD'VE been, smh.

I was walking to my place of work and two huge dogs, which are around the same breed as the one in OP's video, like FULLY mauled me like they FUCKED ME UP dragged me along the gravel like I STILL have their teeth imprints as scars and it's been 2 years. The same breed and around the same weight as the dog in the video, but 2 of them. At the time I was recovering from a horrible breakup, and I myself weighed like less than 115 lbs (my normal weight) because I wasn't eating or sleeping. I had to get rushed to the hospital for surgery there was all the evidence. It traumatised the entire neighbourhood, one of the neighbours ran out with a knife because I was like fully screaming like I thought I was going to die fr. Then, when the police came and I was in shock the white owner of the dogs was trying to make sure her dogs didn't get euthanised, and tried to make up stuff and started with saying I can't speak English. I've been living here for like 6 years, and I was the Valedictorian in the local high school. We didn't even get to go to court because the owners were so poor they were neglecting the dogs, I got like fucked up by infections, I was throwing up consistently the first week I got out of hospital. Work insurance covered everything but I still have a tiny scar on my face. I still have PTSD from it, I start running when I hear something resembling a growl or a dog. I get nightmares from it and it's been 2 years. I didn't even get to go to therapy or get compensated for it. When the Australian councilperson came around, she told me, and I quote "We can't just kill these dogs, they're someone's pets." as if I wasn't someone's entire DAUGHTER. And that was AFTER it came to light that the dogs already had a lot of recorded excess aggression. Dog breeds like those have to be treated like weapons, and the owners need to be held responsible if the dogs attack, as if they've released a literal weapon with malicious intent.

literally had a dog nearby get killed in a public park that literally has two large signs that says no off leash dogs. and i'll tell you what :/ it was not a pit, it was a large guard dog breed vs a smaller companion dog breed. any and all dogs can and will attack, and if their opponent is weaker fatalities happen. worse is that woman knew her dog is aggressive and i've never once seen it on leash at my apartment nor have i seen it with a muzzle and she's always fixated on my dog when we have to pass to the point i need to stop and block my dog off because neither of us are winning that fight

This is the same process my family and I are going through currently with my neighbor's dog, who has a history of attacking other dogs (has already 2 accidents before us). He was walking in front of our door where our dog was standing without any leash or adult near him. My dog sadly didn't survive the attack, it has been a year. The communication started all sorry and feeling quilt, but the further it went on he ignored my messages after we handed him the bills and got almost all money back from his insurances (we want it the rest back too). The dog is still being walked without a muzzle, an adjustable-length and from what I heard almost attacked another dog. It's going to court for us because he isn't agreeing with the punishment he was given by the public prosecutor. It deeply saddens me that he is refusing responsibility, even more that he knew my dog and us for 13 years and this is how he choose to act. His dog is so big, if he pulls neither him nor his gf could handle him, what's even more dangerous because we have a lot of elderly and children walking their dogs. It is messed up and always will be (for sure that there was a period where the gf tried to act like nothing happened and their children still trying to talk to us like nothing happened). It will be a long process and in many ways painful. I hope you will get your money from them and that actions will be taken against the owner. I wish you, your family and Chopper so much healing from this painful situation.

The owner didn't take responsibility for her dog and because she was staying with us and the dog was allowed to be on our property, the dog was deemed not dangerous and given back to her. She was also shielded by my dad and i wasn't allowed to take her to small claims.

100% this, we ran into someone similar in our neighborhood. His 100+ pound pitbull would jump over their broken fence, and jump my dog while we were walking away from their house. We all freaked out, my husband held the pitbull down, luckily nothing bad happened that day. We could see all the holes on their wire fence his dog bit through, it is very obvious that this dog is overly excited and aggressive when seeing other dogs. Not only did the owner never fix his fence , he would walk his dog off leash everyday. We had a chance to talk to the owner after the 2nd time his dog ran out, he said his dog was rescued from the homeless, and it has issues, and he was trying to rehome this dog. It breaks my heart to learn that he sees this dog is the issue not himself as a owner. How difficult would that be to secure your fence and train your dog???

I'm so, so sorry you had to go through this with Chopper. This is a dog owner's worst nightmare - your dog being involved in a fight. I'm so relieved that Chopper still trusts other dogs and isn't traumatized. I'm so sorry that you are though, and hope you continue to work through this and find peace. A friend at the dog park's dog was blamed for a bite that he didn't witness, and the friend promised to pay the vet bill. The other owner's only would get an invoice from a vet and demanded cash/venmo, but when the friend called the Vet they said they just asked for the invoice and left immediately, and they would only Facetime to limit text history. People can't be trusted sometimes.

They came to us and told us that they would pay for vet bills and hospital and ambulance fees. They havent paid a single thing and keep saying “i haven’t gotten paid yet/don’t get paid enough” This happened in June btw. It’s hard to find a lawyer because every single lawyer we find say that they don’t handle cases like these. I’m not sure what to do anymore since it seems impossible to find a lawyer nearby that takes cases like these. My neighbors do not seem remorseful at all, their dogs did get euthanized but we warned them multiple times about their dogs to keep them tied up in their backyard and they have the audacity to come and tell us “we left them tied i dont know what happened!”

As someone who has a reactive dog this was the other owners fault. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. If you can't control your dog you have take them at times where dogs aren't out. I take mine at 5:30 am and 9:30 pm. The gear is so important like if you have a uncontrolled dog you get gear to help control them like I own a prong collar and a no pull leash. I'm glad you both ended up being okay those are very scary situations many dogs have died in these type of situations.
