People are super quick to judge and act like anyone drafted is instantly elite. 1st overall picks take time to develop after all. Some don’t pan out and Caleb needs a good coach like Johnson or Vrabel for his defense.

Russell Wilson's last couple of years in Seattle were just like Williams in Chicago playing behind what's arguably the worst O line in the league. The one grace that he gets is that it's not being argued that he's hanging on to the ball too long. That's why him just like Russell at the time led the league in sacks. He's a rookie and he's already shell shocked, not because he's a trash player but, because his O Line is complete garbage/trash. When he's in shotgun and the ball is hiked, the defense is in his face before the ball.
@DaDon000
@DaDon000 17 күн бұрын
Most of the metrics suggest that the pass blocking isn’t that bad. Chicago’s 34.1% pressure rate ranks 13th despite Williams holding onto the ball for so long. They also rank 15th in PBWR, which is more than respectable. Similarly, the run-blocking numbers are fairly solid (0.92 RBYBC/rush; 14th), so it’s unfair to lay the complete failure of this season on the offensive line.

My only issues with Caleb is the hero ball combined with bad fundamentals and his softness when scrambling. He’s shown the arm talent with a few flash plays of the off script improvising ability he has when the play breaks down that he can throw darts. But the fundamentals break down, the jump throw, running right to throw back left, and that last interception on 4th and 10 to end the game, throwing off the back feet back pedaling. He has to stop doing that or be coached out of doing that IMHO. He’s always said that that he’s not a running QB. Which l get that. But when it’s time to run…..run with intent as a runner. We understand he’s been hit a lot this year, but too many times he could’ve gotten the first down and he decides to take an angle and B line to the side line that ends up in him getting hit awkwardly. The scramble he had in the Seattle game he runs directly toward Cole kmet who can’t see him and runs into him from behind. Doing things like this you can injure your teammate and yourself. As Caleb got tackled awkwardly behind him. If you’re going to run…..RUN! Plant your foot and go north or south! Slide if you need to. Not take angle to the sideline when you need the first down then change your mind and get popped. He’s done that often this season. So some of these hits he’s taken is his own fault. Because of his logic when running. You want your teammates to respect you and fight for you, show them that you’re not scared and get the damn first down. Your defense will respect that about you. There will be times you’ll have to take a hit for the greater good to stay on the field. He has to learn this and stop being soft at times in my option. As Caleb is not the problem he is a rookie trying to figure it out.

Its hard to be a drop back passer with a rocket when no one is blocking for you. Same shit happened to Justin. It wasnt as bad because he was fast and could get outta dodge in a hurry.He's found greener pastures. 70 sacks in a year I think you could find a NCAA O line who would do a better job than this. Im not even gonna fault the young fella. The Bears knew this was a problem for a few years now.

THIS IS NOT CALEB'S FAULT! HE CAN "ONLY" GET BETTER IF HE'S NOT RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE PRACTICALLY EVERY DOWN. HE' CAN'T LEARN TO READ DEFENSES WHEN THE POCKET COLLAPSES AT THE HIKE! HE'S ON THE SAME PATHWAY THAT TRUBISKY, AND JUSTIN FIELDS WERE ON, AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? THE REAL PROBLEM ARE THE OWNERS WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT WINNING. THEY INVEST IN MEDIOCRE PLAYERS BECAUSE THEY'RE CHEAP. THEY'VE DONE THE SAME WITH THE COACHES. STOP BLAMING CW! ITS A TRAVESTY SELL THE TEAM!
