LET ME REPEAT.. they had the lead going into the 4th quarter in 39 of 43 games. When you are decisively beating teams you won't put up massive stats. Yet his performance was MVP level. Use the 49er game as a example. ... last year when the Ravens boat raced the 49ers Lamar Jackson had 1 pass attempt in the last 18 minutes of the game..... for those that know football this is what happens when you repeatedly win decisively. ... Track 50 years of NFL football college and highschool (even a video games).. the teams down two scores that teams QB will have more passing yards than the winning QB. ... that is HOW football works. Most of the time entering the 4th quarter the Ravens was thinking about who they are car pooling with back from the air port.. .the game was OVER. I think if we're thinking about this objectively (I will state I am a Ravens fan), it depends on what the criteria is for MVP. Is it the best player in the NFL or is it the most valuable individual to their team? If its the best, that's Lamar. He's leading in all major stats and has had the tougher strength of schedule. If its the most valuable, that's Josh Allen. He certainly has less help than Lamar does this year. The reality is it's probably a bit of both. Problem is in the past, the criteria used to determine "MVP" seems to be inconsistent, so we sit here debating Lamar vs Allen but in reality we're just debating what the definition of the award is. Maybe that's because "valuable" might be too subjective to quantify, or possibly other reasons as well. I hope the Associated Press come out and clarify this distinction, similar to the clarification provided for comeback player of the year, where the spirit of the award was emphasized. What MVP should mean is a different debate than what MVP currently means per the criteria. As a side note, to anyone preparing to scream robbery once their MVP isn't selected, the fact that it is so close means a robbery is literally impossible, assuming the MVP is Lamar or Josh Allen.
