I saw him at 87 and got to talk to him afterwards. He was SO nice. He said he still practiced scales every morning.

Forget about it! Wow. There are stories about pianists walking into the studio in NYC, looking over the piano part, and saying "You'd better call Hank!" He was also the staff pianist on the Ed Sullivan Show. talk about having to R E A D ! Thanks for posting. He was pure genius.
