Discovered this individual 6 weeks ago and am obsessed. Talented, bright, and very clean cut. Mick Jagger couldn’t make a pimple on Hank’s bottom. I am going to have to figure out how to meet him someday. His rendition of Apache is nothing short of outstanding.

The nearest I ever got to playing like Hank was in 1943. I couldn't play back then but neither could he!

Hank is a very honest and "warm"modest man who respects others. A fantastic drug free musician. It's too bad The Shadows did not have United States American promotions on local radio stations in the early '60's. They would have been the first British invasion band before The Beatles. I think Hank's "Apache" is the best version next to The Ventures. All the best to you, Hank!:)

I love the fact that he mentions Peter Green of the original Fleetwood Mac. Not the fastest ..not the most technically gifted ...but utterly amazing player in a emotional sense. I think that is the way Hank Marvin plays too. All the guitarists he mentioned mostly have that in common. Django as well ..even though it was jazz ..had a great feel to his playing and as he says..when Hank plays it with his quartet live ..people really appreciate it and love it. Great interview ...and I like the fact what he said about drugs and drink...he never went down that path. Refreshing to hear!!!

Im 52 coming up ive played the guitar since 1984 i was 16. What got me wanting to play was hearing the shadows. Like other kids i loved that fender strat twangy sound. I later got into brian may frim queen who again is anorher guitar hero to me.but my first love .is and always will be hank marvin and the shadows.his style will always be my favourite style of playing. And i have now just got back into playing a strat and playing hanks style. All so mark knopfler another brilliant guitarist all so a influence on me

You can keep Slash for you, and all these overrated guitarists. Mark might not play complicated pieces, but he touch your soul more than any others guitarists who are in the top 10 "best guitarists" ever. He doesn't need scandals or a life full of excesses , like any other celebrity, to bring us beauty through his strings.
