Really like Dean's acting here. His change in facial expressions really show how conflicted hank is about how he feels about walter. He really consider walt a good buddy through most of the series then absolutely hated him and saw nothing but a monster after finding out the truth. Here he was getting ready to send Walt to death row (or life in prison) and he was happy about it. Then he is shocked that despite what just happened between them Walt (who Hank was essentially about happily send to his death) instantly and with out the slightest bit of hesitation is willing to give up everything and part with all $80,000,000 for them to spare Hanks life and then in his last moments he starts to see Walt's human side again.

I don't see as many people talking about the twisted irony of Hank calling Walt "the smartest guy [he's] ever met" as I feel like there should be. As many reasons as there are for Walt building his drug empire and developing the Heisenberg persona as a coping mechanism, I'd argue that feeling belittled and emasculated by Hank in particular was (at least one of) the straw(s) that broke the camel's back when he received his cancer diagnosis. He'd spun this self-deprecating narrative in his mind for himself that his brother-in-law never respected him or saw him as a man, and in his final moments, he completely shatters one of the main delusions that initially pushed Walt over the edge and caused him to go on this never-ending, circular quest for power and dominance in being a drug lord. unfortunately, by the time he's finally straightforwardly told how much BS he'd been feeding himself, it's far too late and he's fully reaping the consequences. I truly believe that had they somehow, under whatever circumstances, found themselves having a heart-to-heart about this before the ride-along, it just may have been enough to make this show never happen, or happen much differently, provided Walt didn't immediately discard the notion entirely out of his negatively self-centered tendencies.

In the first episode of the show, Hank said that Walter had a brain the size of Wisconsin but that his heart was in the right place. Over the course of the show, we saw the first point get proved time and again, and we thought that the second had been rendered utterly false with all the selfish, evil things Walt had done… but we see, in this moment, that wasn’t the case. For all the terrible things he’d done, Walt still had so much love in his heart for his family, Hank included, and it overpowered his brain. In his desperation, he was willing to give up his money - the very thing he’d been working for all this time - in the desperate hope that it would save Hank’s life. Hank knew it wouldn’t, which is why he acted so brazenly because he knew there was no chance he would survive. On some level, Walt had to know too but like Hank said, his heart was in the right place (for once) and it led to the loss of everything he’d worked so hard for because he couldn’t accept the inevitability of this moment.

Walt should have simply told them he needs to question Hank about what he and the DEA knows about his operation and then have Jack's crew kill Hank after....then Walt could have taken gotten Hank out of the situation, instead Walt is really dumb here...

Actually if walt didnt tell them he was his brother in law, he could've said he'd kill him after questioning him, himself. He just had to play it cool, but walts emotions were running wild so he couldn't control himself.

I don't think walt would have any time to get him out of it by the time they'd kill him tbh. Besides Walt was very desperate.

I finally got around to watching BB. Damn, it was definitely worth the wait. It’s right up there with The Sopranos, Peaky Blinders, and The Wire. Next up is binge watching Better Call Saul. So nice to have completed series to watch so there’s no waiting for “next weeks episode”, a new season to begin, or worse, a series that gets cancelled before it’s finished.

After El Camino, I honestly feel very bad for Jesse after this. Walt ruined his life because he called Jack

This has to be the best acted scene across the board in TV history

I'd like to think Hank was thinking of Marie for those 3 seconds before telling Jack to do it

Walt tried to swim with the fishes and got rid of Gus never realizing the types of people Gus had to keep in line. People like Jack would have never went up against Gus

Hank thinking Jesse was right. Walt keeps getting away with this.

I’m not a fan of police but Hank is my favorite special agent character he was smart, brave, had honor, he kinda reminds me of mcnulty from the wire

ego mainly and pride. And wanting a sense of accomplishment since he had some insecurities

This scene is more powerful than 1977 Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This is the only good thing that Walt did for Hank... keep him alive long enough for Hank to get a badass send off.
