Sad/funny thing is that the comment by the actual artist has the least likes. We love you and missed you Shelton. Actually recorded a cover of “Devils Movin In” by you to be released soon, very important song for me. Would love to have your blessing on it. Just did a Butthole Surfers cover too :) kzbin.info/aero/OLAK5uy_mEIovkKwEl1qWNFUTfOJLf-oAAIA7USvo

There is a song called "The Ballad of Stringbean and Estelle" by Sam Bush that you really should check out, it basically tells the story of what happened (it is a fascinating story), I'd always hoped someone would react to the song, but so far nobody has. But as always great reaction, Don! 🙂

The man who got him out was the pastor of the Cornerstone Church in Madison, Tennessee a suburb of Nashville. I believe his name is Davis and he has a soft spot for criminals because he was a criminal himself and spent time in prison. I don't remember what his crime was but I do know that he spent time behind bars. I'm not telling anything that isn't common knowledge because I have visited Cornerstone Church two or three times and I heard Davis say from the pulpit that he had spent time in prison. I am not surprised that he would be the one who got Brown out of prison. His cousin, the other man who was there when String was killed, died in prison. They had been up for parole after about 25 years and a bunch of members of the Opry went to the parole hearing to do everything they could to try to prevent their being paroled. Their lawyer got up and said, "But they've been behind bars a LONG time. Don't you think they deserve to be paroled?" I believe it was Porter Wagoner who said, "Yes, it has been a long time. But my friend's still dead." I'm not sure if you understand that it is the PASTOR that a psychiatrist said would kill again. It is therefore not much of a surprise that he would be willing to help Brown get out of prison. The song is too fast for me to be able to understand very well. I played it over and over and I stopped it to read the text on the pictures but I am missing HUGE chucks of the lyrics because I just cannot understand them. I tried to find the lyrics on Google but I didn't have any luck so I'm still in the dark as to the direction this song took.

Don, look at the last hat pictured in this video. It looks just like the hat Hank111 wears. I wonder if Hank wears it in memory of Stringbean.

very sad story RIP Stringbean and his wife, pure evil ... be safe ... HAKAD

You're absolutely right Don: very,very intense. I do remember the first part of this story. I was a Hee Haw fan and I remember being shocked by the murders. Stringbean was so likeable I couldn't imagine how it could happen. As you noted, this video is very well edited and compresses a lot into the 4 minutes. Certainly a mind blower. Thanks Don for your reaction and Hank for reminding us of these tragic events.

So one of the killers died in prison in 2004 I think. The other, John A. Brown was paroled in 2014 after receiving 2 life sentences. The preacher is a man that offered Brown employment and acceptance. Browns wife was a member of the church. I think the preachers comments may have swayed the parole board.

I apologize I couldn't understand most of the words

@Warren Burlingame I couldn't either, and I couldn't find the lyrics, so you and I are in the same boat. The song moved FAST, which was an effect I liked even though I didn't understand the words. I got the gist of the story, but now I'm intrigued about the details.

@@RockN2Country I do know that Granpaw Jones was his neighbor and I believe he's the one that found him. For me the banjo was too much to try to understand the words

I'd want to offer constructive criticism, but I know how constructive criticism can be taken nowadays. Especially on the internet. My dad told me about String Bean's fate when I was a kid, but I never learned the details. Mind you, I just turned 31, so it happened almost 20 years before I was even born. I think I would have to go down a rabbit hole of research to learn what's going on with this to even comment on it, right after hearing it. I did try to pause and read the stuff on the screen, which I'm assuming is Hank III's commentary?
@RockN2Country2 жыл бұрын
@Guts Correct. If you scroll through the comments you’ll see that Hank commented regarding me wondering, during the reaction, about who did the editing and the video. He did all the work.

@@RockN2Country Yeah, I did see the comment. I just didn't know if some of the written info was excerpts taken from some article and inserted, or if it was his own words on the topic. But I am assuming it's his own.
