Met him, shook his hand and was politely greeted with a broad, happy friendly and genuine smile. He's a real artist, not a reincarnation of his grampa but his own man. His musical tastes are varied and he can perform each sincerely and well. His Dad doesnt bankroll him, he earns his own keep and I hope he gets the chance to do his own thing, his own way and finds success.

@@ivgotballsofsteel4048 What's wrong with country rap? That's what the blues is but rap is crap and it is not urban folk music. People can argue this point forever but it makes no difference because no body listens to folk music anyways. Bill Anderson wrote Connie Smith's hit, "Once A Day". They needed some sweetening on the tracks & called in a guy named Weldon Myrick to play pedal steel. The next day after the song's release, Weldon got flooded with calls to record. He got a lot of gigs from that one song. Almost overnight, the pedal steel became the must-have sound on country records, the lap steel all but vanished from the country scene, and Myrick went on to become the Grand Ol Opry's house pedal steel player for something like the next 40 years. He's heard on the late great Gary Stewart's song, "She's Acting Single" (along with the Jordanaires on backing vocals), and in my mind it's some of the most fantastic, soulful pedal steel that's ever been recorded. The instrument's popularity is rightly deserved, and has been used on recordings from Pink Floyd to Meatloaf to Jackson Browne to Gerry Rafferty to Elton John. I have a ZB Custom of my own, but it needs a little maintenance lately. I played it in professional theater in the early 90's, the theater owners even fronted me the money to get it. I still like the old lap steel players, too, like Pete Kirby, Leon McAuliffe, Don Helms, & Big Joe Talbot.

Hank 3 has his own great sound plus he seems like a hell of a nice guy. Hank Jr. raised him right.

Hank Jr abandoned him. Hank 3 grew up essentially fatherless as is tradition in his family.

With the right marketing, this kid could overtake the country music industry.

He had the opportunity to but didn't because he didn't sell out. His lyrics and sound isn't profitable for Nashville. Look into his legal battle with Curb Records, it's a perfect example of what's wrong with Country music these days and what happens when money is valued over the quality and honesty of the music.

@@evanleedy1175 Well stated. Not a Sell Out. True to music. NOT a corporate machine. Making His money for HIM. You appear to know a little about Hank 3. Leads me to believe you are a person of substance. I still drink my coffee from a can, too.
@evanleedy11753 жыл бұрын
@@robertstroud7561 I'd be lying if I was to say I'm not a huge fan of his. And I appreciate the compliment, but any substance that I have as a person has been given to me from the Lord. Hank 3's music definitely got me through some dark times, but it was through God that I was saved.

@@evanleedy1175 The Creator is the root of it all. If you follow the Creator, you follow a path with heart. A path with heart leads to love. A path with heart leading to love leads to serenity. Even in the middle of the storm. My Creator has been talking to me through music my entire life. Started with Porter Wagner's Skid Row Joe. My mom said she'd play it and I'd cry and ask to to play it again and promise not to cry and I would. People like Hank 3 aren't musicians. Hank 3 is part of something way bigger than himself. I'm just so Grateful I found the path I did when I was young. Maybe we'll run into each other one night at a show. Shows I go to tend to be held in clubs, not arenas.

@@robertstroud7561 I dig you sharing that little tidbit of your experience with music and appreciate it man. I believe that God gave us music, He didn't just give us the sound, but the ability to appreciate that sound as well. I truly believe that music is the purest form of human expression from one person to another... "Ball and Chain" by Social Distortion was where it all started for me...Great to see how music can bring folks together man🤘
