Another love before my time made your heart sad and blue And so my heart is paying now for things I didn't do In anger, unkind words are said that make the teardrops start Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart? You'll never know how much it hurts to see you sit and cry You know you need and want my love, yet you're afraid to try Why do you run and hide from life, to try it just ain't smart Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart? There was a time when I believed that you belonged to me But now I know your heart is shackled to a memory The more I learn to care for you, the more we drift apart Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart?

This old song my dad used to play and sing and taught me. Brings back so many childhood memories of my dad singing all kinds of old songs and I really miss him. So every once in a while I have to listen to these old songs by Hank. I am 62 now and still play and sing this to this day.

....hard to believe it took Hank 5 minutes to write this. Whatever the quality of his other talents, Hank Williams was and IS the Poet Lureat of REAL Country Music. He wrote from the same heart that ultimately led to his troubled life and untimely death. R.I.P. Hank

While attending George Washington University in D.C. in 1969 my friends and I attended a party where we took a break from Rock and Soul music and listened to some country albums my best friend had brought. I’d never heard of Hank as he sang Dear John, Cold Cold Heart, and Honky Tonk Woman but the simplicity of his lyrics and emotion captured my heart. He seemed like a country Bob Dylan I thought. This was followed by Jonny Cash’s Folsom Prison album. Another by Waylon Jennings and ending with Willie Nelson. Listening to this track brought back all those wonderful memories. “Move it on over Hip-Hop💞!!!
