Hello, I am actually thinking of getting myself this bow from sarmat, but seeing that I dont do well with people, have no garden of my own, and lockdown being a thing- I wont be able to practice anywhere else than indoors aka "meditative shooting". So id like to ask: Is there a way to decrease the actual energy transferred to the arrow, while not having to minimize bowstrength? What i mean is: is there a type of string, or setup that, while providing the sensation of a "full" draw , can simulate a -lets say - 30lbs bow in terms of the energy transferred to the arrow - eventhough Im using a 50lbs? I ask this because I was thinking of beginning with indoor close range shooting - and wouldnt want the arrow to have too much power: but wouldnt want to sacrifice a hankyu later on just because it lacks drawweight. There just has to be some kind of string with more give - that transferrs less energy. Thank you and sorry for the somewhat awkward question.

No idea. A flexible rubber band string would help but I would not go this route. Better get a good and forgiving target

It's the shortest range available at my range sadly and as this will be for fun, I don't want to high of a poundage (due to the draw 24 might be pushing it already?). Can anyone help me? I like Your videos immensely. I am somewhat disabled after a couple of brain Blood clots, stroke, if that explain better. But, Still kicking. Alas, I can not call myself an Archer. Just fooling about bending wood, glueing stuff together. And some Day my foolind around May become a "Good" bow. The idea of "khatra" has interested me since I began thinking about bows and arrows. I happen to live close by an ancient cave in southern Norway. AS a boy I found something I believed at The time to be a bow. Of course, wood cannot survive oxygenated athmosphere for very Long, But I found flint scraps, massive amounts. And a couple of sharp finished arrowheads. And, joy and happiness found spearheads too. Lots. After becoming older and enjoying The experieces of hunting with my fathers gun, I saw The area from higher ground. And it "revealed" itself to me. I could see why, and how The old hunters operated. The Stone fences that led from higher terrain down to where spearheads was found, i then understood. Sorry for the rambling. Hi Armin. Have you measure the draw weight of your Hankyu lately. Mine was 36 lbs when I got it. I've shot it a lot and its now 25.8 lbs. According to some literature from a Yumi / Kyudo site, all-bamboo Yumi (Take Yumi) get "tired" and need to be set aside to rest. Shoot it a lot, particularly a lot per practice session, and the bow never recovers. How are your Yumis (Yumies?) holding up?
@ArminHirmer3 жыл бұрын
They will get a bit string follow and get tired. Let them rest or bring them back in shape and eliminate the string follow. But it’s just bamboo and wood, so it’s to be expected

Nice video as always! Thanks for making it. Regarding the "Shallow hook ring". Being a fun of long draw bows I shoot both Yumi and Manchu bows. With the relevant rings and gloves ofc. I found that shooting with a Yugake (Japanese shooting glove) is very similar to how you use a cylindrical manchu ring. Thumb pointing forwards, hooking with wrist rotation instead of bending the thumb and rotating to release and shoot. It's all very similar. I suggest you try it out!

All these Sarmat bows recently, we had to get some Hankyu action. Was gonna ask if either of them is the bow from your review a few years back. You mentioned one is older. I ordered a Hankyu back on the 17th as well some Kyudo arrows to go with it. I wanted one for a while since your first video on them. Just didn't know if I wanted to get a Sarmat Hankyu or an actual Yumi. Only place in the US that I could find that sells Yumi bows is 3Rivers and they charge almost 600$ for one, and I don't know of any places in Japan that shit to the US. So it became an easy decision to buy a Hankyu over a Yumi, when Sarmat charges less than 150 for their Hankyu. It's not here yet, but man I can't wait to shoot it. It such a stylish bow build wise, and the style of shooting a Hankyu is very appealing. A call back to your original Hankyu video, "Zen Mind, come to me." There is something very zen about the bow. As always great video. Great display of the bow, the arrows, and just the genuine joy of the bow.

I have a dzungar from sarmat archery, it is officially supposed to draw 31 inches.... I relatively regularly abuse it by going up to 34 inches, Sarmat's bows are just incredible. No stacking, still a safe feeling despite doing something the manufacturer never intended. This is not an encouragement to do that but merely a tip of the hat to the bow's build quality.

Sarmat's boo-wood laminated bows are beautiful. And quite slow on the other hand. I mean it's quite easy to get higher speeds with self made selfbows, primitive stuff (no recurves or anything advanced, just good tillering and narrow outers). Still, beautiful and good price bows these Sarmat's.
