I'm in a prosperous town on the English south coast. Owned the same business since the late '80s. Full order books. Excellent reputation. I can barely keep from going under. Energy costs, the water bills and business rates have increased dramatically and disproportionately. A well-run business can be killed by energy costs, over-regulation and excessive taxation. Thank God I'm approaching retirement.

So why people claim Thatcher was bad then?

So sad, I came up to Hanley Theatre Royal in August 1988 for the final showing of the Rocky Horror Show. Fantastic show. So sad to see this deprivation.

So sad, i used to love visiting Hanley and other parts of sot. All those lovely character old buildings and history.

Trying to understand why this is happening, not just in Hanley but every town and city. Not only is it a lack of Government funding but also the internet. Things are so much easier now to buy online, yes you don't even have to leave the house. High street shopping is declining before our eyes. Something that we were once proud of in Britain. It's so sad....

It's a shame, We call it home (even after we've left) BUT from many of the Tube vids about the UK as a whole, its not just Home. Many a building left to Rot, as Landlords(building owners) don't want to invest in There buildings. Just charge over the top rents to screw the Country.

I was born in Hanley in 1946. What a great place to grow up in. It's now a SHITOLE plagued with beggars, down and outs and immigrants. SO SAD.

When I think of the name Hanley,I think of a TV presenter called Jenny. She presented a programme called magpie.! Well the town that shares her name is by the looks of it,one for sorrow.! How sad..!

I see a lot of video's like this bashing the post industrial north. Context would be helpful. What day did you film this on, what time of the day etc. Any town centre in the UK will look empty of people at 8am on a Sunday morning. AD Travel should have the courage to narrate and provide context or just stop making content, as content without context is meaningless.
