To anyone wondering. The build up was to show not how much Ali has grown, but how much Baki has grown. It showed that the rest of the gang doesn't really stand a chance vs him. Let's be real, back when he was 13 he fought both Hanayama and Yuri, while wearing a 20kg belt FOR HOURS, just as a warm up before he fought Yujiro. The quick bout vs Ali just showed that both Dopo and Shibukawa hugely underestimate how strong Baki really is and why he doesn't need to fight them. The 1 stomp knockout was also a jab at Jack, who despite stomping Ali multiple times, didn't manage to keep him down

Disrespecting their legacies. They have a guy that acts like Chuck Norris, and gave him more respect. As a black guy, everytime I watch a Japanese animation representing characters of African decent, I always prepare myself for the worse. (Works that look like they were inspired by Walt Disney's earliest works. If you know what I mean.) This time I honestly thought things would change, because Jr. was composed, naturally charming, eager to fight, had strategy... Anyways, while fighting Jack he then changes his character, like a high powered car going 0 to 60 at a moment's notice. Once I saw the "🤪 Blaaah" face, he looked like a hero turned day rapist. And, by the end I wouldn't expect he would look like a crying toddler, much more than a man. IMO, if Muhammad fought Bruce, Jackie Chan or Jet Li at the time he was in his prime, all of them would've died 1v1 in a fight to the death. I love anime, but I hate that I'm right about how most Japanese animators view black people majority of the time. That's why I stick to watching blonde haired, blue eyed, European animated individuals who are clearly Asian, because they have Japanese names. Those shows are awesome.

Also, don't know if you remember our unit of a guy named oliva but this show actually pays great hommage to blacks imo. Ali wasn't prepared to lay his life on the line like these other characters have been doing for years, which is the premise of the show, which is why he got beaten. Ali is top 20-30 strongest characters in baki. Stop bringing race into this, it has no place here.

Ali Sr. had to stop the fight for the reason being that Baki legitimately was going to kill him, after this arc, we're getting ready to see Son of Ogre arc get animated. Baki fighting Yujiro will go down as one of the best fight scenes of all time.
