Not like he needed, the only reason Ali jr. didn´t die after getting his face stomped against a concrete floor was because "anime magic" otherwise he would never get back up from that. And considering how he left Ali jr. with a tongue sliced (which would usually spell death from blood loss) and a very likelly smashed skull, for all jack knows Ali jr. probably died in that sewer and if he lived (by a miracle) it´s not likely that he will try the same bullshit again. Ali jr. probably still has nightmares about that absolute curb stomp he was handled and much like his father (and curiously enough, this happened to many fighters irl), it was all downhill after that first ass kicking. Jack literally destroyed the plot armor beyond repair on that boy.

People look at Ali's character and the meaning of this arc shallowly. Ali is supposed to show the difference between a fighter with killer instinct and one without. One who's used to live in a dog eat dog world and one who's not. Remember when he defeated shibukawa with kindness? Shibukawa himself mentioned it but how did he reply Ali? You've all seen it. Shibukawa could have been said to be teaching Ali the reality of the martial arts world. He was recklessly fighting with his pitiful arrogance with Jack which made Jack teach him a lesson after he was leaving. Him simping for Kozue, he can like whoever he wants. Him wanting to surpass Baki is also understandable. He's not supposed to be a good guy. He's supposed to be a guy not prepared for what he faced. He still does not deserve the hate as a character with wasted potential.. BUT well written.

I kinda feel like Ali Jr. vs Jack mirrors Kaku vs Yujiro with "Ultimate Technique vs Ultimate Force". If it came down to pure technique, if it was a ring match, Ali Jr. would have probably won, but this wasn't a ring match, this was a dirty fight with no rules, you could call it a true/pure fight. Ali Jr. was a brilliant fighter, but as you said, he wasn't ready for this type of fight, because he didn't live in the world where this kind of fighting was celebrated.

Here’s what people don’t understand, stylistically, alai jr is the possibly the strongest character but that’s about it. He spent soo much time perfecting his form and movement that he didnt work on actual power and combat experience. This is akin to a tai chi practitioner trying to use his form in combat, while his form may be perfect, it would take a lot of experience in combat to gracefully flow through ur opponents attacks. So until alai jr works on his power and experience, his style is more on the theoretical side.

Ali Jr. was indeed a talented boxer and did in fact prove his metal in the Raitai Tournament, but those were just matches. That's his problem, he thinks of his bouts as matches and not fights. He doesn't have the glint of bloodlust needed to survive a real fight. A match is simply a match between people to see who's stronger but a fight is a battle for survival. Matches are controlled, fights happen anywhere at anytime and anything goes.

What's cool about the Ali Jr. arc is I started out by thinking it kind of sucked once I finished it because they really hyped up Ali Jr. for nothing. But when you think about it, it's actually pretty fucking cool as it is gruesome. Everyone in this anime "wants to be the strongest" but strength is relative. It comes in different forms and people have very different definitions of strength and what is strong. Ali Jr. is under the impression that if you take someone down in a fight you are stronger than that person. You have bested them and you move on. He had three great teachers to show him he really just did not belong. Shibukawa taught him that unless you concede you don't lose and the fact that Ali Jr. was injured showed the dark side of their fight and the way things work in the underground. It just gave Shibukawa an advantage which helped him to whoop Ali Jr's ass. It was mentally straining on Ali Jr, making him not want to really fuck with him. How can you attack someone who's injured? Why fight someone injured? Orochi showed him that pain should be a major motivator. My mans punched Dorian in the face with a fresh fucking stub arm. Ali Jr. winces and instead of letting killer instinct take over, his flight wants to kick in and he can't give off his full potential because he's never been in a death match. He doesn't know what it means to be on the edge, use adrenaline and pain to your advantage to overcome the raging obstacle in front of you that managed to best you thus far. Then you have Jack. The monster who fucked Ali Jr. up so badly and showed him a whole entire level he will never be on. Ali Jr. even says "Baki beat this monster?" He can't come close to Jack, who was beaten once by Baki (Jack however didn't concede, they will probably fight again. Not Ali Jr's ideology). How the hell is he going to beat Baki then? Basically Jack did to Ali Jr. what Pickle did to Jack. His downfall was shitty to watch, sure. However it did show us a good idea of the Baki universe because, Ali Jr. didn't just realize the world wasn't his; he was in a whole different universe.

These people never stop improving, they are growing all the time while Ali Jr. doesn't. This and the killer instinct is what he learned from this arc.

It's funny Baki, Jack and the Hanma blood line healing factor doesn't allow them to give up a fight as they recover quiker even while looking worse than Jr. over here. (Also helps that the Hanma's aren't afraid of death, unlike Jr.)

@@tylerfae8294 well jack and baki are 2 different type of fighter so him and baki would be closer because Bakis more in his fighting class while jack is more sturd than baki so Ali’s fade punches didn’t tumble him because he’s way more of a brick house than baki and in raw strength is better than baki baki is just way more skilled than jack so that’s why
