You should show also the computer software that mine came with - I'm not sure if the 5A version has it or not, but my RS310P has USB+software! The software is simple, but a simple text editor can create a list of voltage/amps script that you can run 1 or 1000 times! This records a data file that is also in text format, so you can see what happened during the test! Or make the 6 memory's cycle using the LIST button. Thanks for your video.

Thank you so much for going through this. I just unboxed mine tonight and the CC and CV really confused me. Knowing that it's just an indicator light rather than something that I can set really helps.

Why do you say you are glad to help ,you put people in danger you asshole. (Sorry) CC means constant current and it will push the maximum amount of current through anything it is connected to . So then you have to rely on safety like fuses and stuff. Not on morons like you ! 😆😆😆🚑🚑🚑🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

If you use Linux (for which no software is shipped), I do believe that the connection is recognized as serial, hence you need to make your user to be part of the dialout group in order to enable receiving/sending anything from/to the PS. I also do think there are some libraries out there that will even give you a nice dashboard for this PS. None of it is made by the OEM, but then again I would rather shoot myself in the foot then install some random software that came on a CD from China on Windows. :D The PS is actually very decent and you can see it in videos from various hardware tech channels incl. Louis Rossman and NorthridgeFix , both of whom do component-based board repairs of phones, laptops and so on.

For software use you can check out the channel "Circuits by Code" here on KZbin. He has the 3010 shows how the software works. A little unusual, but nothing too bad.

Very nice unit TRG, Id prefer linear...have you had a chance to see how bad the noise is from this device? I do like the device, nice and attractive! I've been looking at HP or others. Fantastic price, I paid that for one of mine and its not that fancy. :) ~Jack, VEG
@TheRadiogeek
@TheRadiogeek 4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t looked at the noise yet. I’m sure it’s not as quiet as my linear supply but that’s just the nature of a SMPS. My linear supply is over 30 years old and built like a tank. I only paid 50 bucks for it used and it was probably $350 or more new. You can get supplies with analog meters cheap, no one wants them.

Hi, I hope you can help as I am struggling to get it to hold 30v. I press M1 and it shows 30v 1.014 amp and OFF HOWEVER if I power up it shows 30v 0 amps and 0 watts. If I then connect the leads to a battery the 30v drops to 12.8v & 1.014amps with cc light lit. no amount of trying let's me use the 30v x 1amp (set on M1) Any idea what I am doing wrong please? Also, whilst "playing" I put it on "list" then powered it on, and it ran (changing every 5 seconds) from M1 - 14.1v - 1.014amp M2 - 16.8v - 4.5amp M3 - 17.1v - 5.1amp and keeps rolling round those 3 presets. I however only want 1 amp so have switched off waiting for advice. How on earth can I get it to hold the 30v please
@TheRadiogeek
@TheRadiogeek 4 жыл бұрын
it sounds like your load wants more that 1.014 Amps and the supply goes into CC mode (continues current mode). In this mode the voltage will drop until it can provide the set amount of current. These supplies are not meant to charge batteries and the battery could back feed into the supplies output and damage it.
@woodwood5164
@woodwood5164 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheRadiogeek thanks for reply. Quite a few videos on here show 30v being put in to car batteries at a low amperage for say 10 minutes, I do not seem to be able to that, apparently, as long as the amps are low it should be ok. Appreciate your thoughts

Most times when an older radio has low or distorted sound it probably has bad capacitors that need to be replaced. I had an old channel master radio from the 60’s that had this problem and after I changed the capacitors it played like new. Good luck with the repair. Thanks for stopping by. 👍❤️📻

Has anybody tested this power supply with very low currents ? such as small electronic circuits. How accurate is the current measurement in the 0 to 10 mA range ? I have a RockSeed RS305P and the current does not register until 8mA, it could be a fault or maybe the current measurement is just inaccurate, it measures correctly with a multimeter so I dont see why power supply should not be able to manage it. Thinking of returning it to Amazon
@TheRadiogeek
@TheRadiogeek 3 жыл бұрын
I put a small load on mine. 5ma according to my meter and my supply display was reading 7ma. So it looks like the accuracy is a little off in the low end.
@keithl1582

@@TheRadiogeek Thanks for doing that test. I reported the problem to the distributor here in the UK via Amazon, he sent me information to calibrate the unit, after some trouble understanding the badly translated instructions I did manage to recalibrate the current measurements but the problem with not showing the low mA current remains, a second approach to the distributor resulted in the statement that there was no other way to fix the problem. It looks like there is a bug in their programming. I have returned the power supply to Amazon for a refund, it’s a shame as the rest of the unit works well and the price is good, it just did not suit the work I want to use it for.

You didn't make it too obvious that this PSU has _Over Current Protect_ where the PSU will switch the output OFF in the case of over current, not just go into Constant Current mode and drop the voltage etc.

Thanks, all I wanted was how to set memory, so you have to plough through to get there, but basically press a memory button to light it up, set current and voltage and then press the button again.
