Hanna Marin Style Analysis: The Use of Clothing as a Coping Mechanism

In this video, I'll be doing a style analysis on Hanna Marin from Pretty Little Liars. This analysis will breakdown the style development and many makeovers that Hanna goes through in relation to her identity and mental state. We will also be looking at the 'It-Girl' Trope and how the aesthetics of this trope function within the social psychology of appearance.
In relation to her social standing, I'll breakdown her placement in regards to the Four-Temperament Ensemble and how this translates to express her witty, lovable personality within her feminine, fashion conscious, and glamorous look as she embraces or rejects her former self.

I think I'm the furthest thing from a fashionista you can be, but I really relate to the feeling of trying to take control of your identity by the way you dress/present yourself. It's difficult to maintain that awareness though

I feel like fashionistas don't really exist (at least in high school) Everyone wears the same stuff, even the popular girls usually just wear a crop top with ripped jeans and a pair of Nikes lol Of course there are people who like to experiment but I think they're too afraid to dress too differently from the other kids I never saw anyone at school dressed like Hanna or the other liars, their style is very "adult-like" (not necessarily inappropriate, but more mature idk)

Hanna is my favorite "it girl" and she has the most unique costume but still reflect her personality. She was changing her style a few times in the show (including her hairstyle, and hair color), but she got that signature style which I love.. Please make one for Alison😍

This editing style is dynamic, I really like it, and I never considered that Hanna´s style was dated now mostly because I watched her from around thirteen. The look is very distinguished though, I love the queen bee look. I can´t wait to use your channel to develop my aesthetic.

Hannah was always my favorite character and now I realize why. As someome who also went through a drastic weight loss and experienced how better people treat you when you're thin, I relate to her deeply. You become obsessed with staying that way and overindulge in the fashion you couldn't as a heavier person. My fashion has always been a reflection of my emotions and mental state. I love this deep dive into her emotional relationship with clothing.

I used to think I was like aria because I liked the whole edgy thing but as I got older I realized I’m the most like Hanna especially her relationship with her mom. When I saw the title if the video I knew exactly what would be in it and I was right as I’ve dealt with the same thing and still do. I still really use fashion as a form to cope. Would you ever consider doing a style analysis for the characters of Aria and Spencer also? It appears to me that Aria's style seemed to become less sophisticated as the seasons progressed. She comes from a more cultured background than some of the other girls (well read, well traveled, etc.). Of course her secret life of dating her teacher, attending more adult functions such as faculty parties at her parents house or gallery events with her mother, her style seemed to be more affected by this in the earlier seasons and became more juevenile later on. Spencer's progress of stepping away from her more traditional, preppy, old money family in her wardrobe could be an interesting thing to explore as well
