Oh nooo that’s the worst! It really is such a shame when they rate you down over something that isn’t in your control. Did you try reaching out to her? I tried with the buyer who rated me down for the sizing and she didn’t care and didn’t change her rating 😂 But I’m sure she’d understand if you informed her that you shipped same-day and that it was LITERALLY a nationwide issue with USPS and nothing that was in your control!

Thanks, Hannah! I know good spreadsheets make it easier but it looks like you really went to some trouble to put that together. It's much appreciated. I think I'll open my closet next Friday. Opening at the start of the weekend seems good. I already have well over a hundred items to list with incredibly low cost of goods. I think I was careful to choose stylish pieces with decent labels. I guess I'll know soon enough if shoppers agree with me. I'm also pretty much diving straight in full time and giving it all I've got, although I do have some other money coming in to make ends meet. I was holding my breath and wondering if I should take an anxiety pill before I hit the button but I'm feeling fairly optimistic right now. I suppose there's no way to know, but February was looking so good for you, do think you would have kept going up if the pandemic hadn't crashed everything?
@HannahAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
I do think the pandemic really hindered my growth in those early months. But I feel like it also gave me some time to do better research on well-selling brands so I was ready to make better decisions while thrifting once everything opened back up. Best of luck with your closet launch!

Hi! THANK YOU for this video. Your content is SO HELPFUL + has so much GOODNESS. I was curious about your thoughts on having an ongoing sale for certain items in your closet (like 3/$25 etc.) versus only having sales during certain parts of the year. Thanks again for sharing all of these findings.
@HannahAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
Hey Pamela! Thanks for watching, I’m so glad you’ve found these videos helpful! Personally, I’ve found that running sales for a limited time (I’ve always done mine over a holiday weekend) creates a little urgency with buyers. I always make sure to send them a little note saying something like “now through Sunday!” Or “I’m running a sale for Labor Day weekend!” and I feel like this really drives quick sales. Running a sale for me feels pretty exhausting because I’m constantly sending messages and getting the word out to everyone who likes something. I can’t imagine doing that for more than a few days at a time! 😂 But ultimately it is totally a personal decision and doing whatever you enjoy doing and what’s working best for your closet/items ❤️

Truthfully, I’m in the same boat as you and still learning about how to pay taxes on my reselling stuff! To my knowledge, you have to pay taxes if you’ve made over $400 (maybe it’s $600?) in profit. Typically the answer I give for this is to ask you tax professional, however, my tax professional has always been turbo tax haha! They actually walk you through this scenario. You will want to make note of your beginning of the year inventory and end of year as well. That is one thing I didn't know and had to do a lot of back tracking for in the past. It walks you through business expenses, cogs, profit, etc etc. But, life is definitely easier if you track it day to day so when the time comes you are all set on your numbers.

Hi Kelly! I made ambassador in one month. The trick to sharing is to attend the parties. Usually one every night at 8. Join the party and just go HaM! Literally just start clicking the share buttons. The parties update every minute so you will have an abundance of items to share. You do this for 10-15 minutes every party and you will hit that number in no time.

Thanks for this honest and helpful video. I have a question regarding "prestige" of items. I noticed that most of the items in your closet are mid-range or higher. Do you think a seller could be successful selling mall brands at lower price points or making sales like 2/$20, etc?
@HannahAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jasmine! Mall brands can absolutely sell on Poshmark! I think it all comes down to what profit margin you’re willing to sell for and how you value your time. If you sell 2/$20 (which I’ve absolutely done before) you have to keep in mind that after Posh takes their cut, you get $16 which means $8 per item. Then you subtract your cost of goods to get your profit. My average cost of goods for thrifted items is right around $5/item which means I’d make $6 for selling those two items. It all comes down to your willingness to thrift, photograph, list, share, and ship your items for that profit margin. Purely personal preference!
@TheQuabfly3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the response! One more question lol. Do you think it's difficult to sell mall brands as a single item or is it easier to move those kind of items as bundle sales?
@HannahAlonzo3 жыл бұрын
I sell a lot of American Eagle and VS/PINK as single items, but sometimes I do think that brands that already sell for a low retail price (I’m thinking like H&M, Kohl’s, Forever 21, old navy, etc) do better if they’re offered in some kind of bundle deal on resale platforms. Style is also very important too! If it’s something really trendy, it could sell for closer to retail price even if the brand isn’t high end

This is a tough question because it fluctuates day to day!
