Hannah, look into what is called a heat reclaimer. It is a blower with a thermostat built in that goes in the stovepipe! Easy install, you could do it yourself and it cut my wood consumption in half and keeps the room much warmer!

@@Daytona2 I really couldn't say. It plugs into a regular 110 wall outlet. It kicks on and off based on a preset thermostat so it would kinda depend on how often you run the stove and how hot you run it when in use. All I know is it is worth it.

Getting stuck and having to get yourself out, getting your garden mower set up to snowblow, installing a deadbolt-- all so relatable when you are female (and not necessarily brought up doing those hands on things, nor "expected" to figure out how to do them) is so relatable! I just finished installing a carpet in one of the rooms of my house. My significant other (who does not live with me, nor was he game for partnering with me on this project) 's mother asked "who I was going to get to install it"? Duh. "I am doing it myself." I did it myself. (It is actually like the 6th time I have installed carpet in my life.) I love it: "I am a great accumulator of knowledge." Your entryway storage looks great, by the way! We don't need to know everything when we set out on a project. We just have to be game to start, and finish it!

I'd recommend getting a load of sand delivered in the fall and then tarping it while it is still "summer dry" with a black tarp. A bucket of sand hand spread goes a long ways. I live on 40 acres at 4,000' on the US/CA border, and a 10 yard pile of sand is so useful year round. Take a bucket of sand with you in the winter. It is weight and can get you out of a slick spot quickly. BTW I have a 26,000lb frontend loader and have chains on all four wheels. Chains are golden!

Those green blocks on the back of the tractor are weights to counter balance the equipment installed on the front. The store is probably expecting a 250-300lb male to be driving the tractor and blowing snow. You will to need heavier weights on the back to counter the weight of the blower, as the operator is part of the counter balance.

I have John Deere X304, which is about the same size as yours. Chains are a definite must. I know it may seem excessive, but you will REALLY LOVE to snow blow with an enclosure around you in the blowing snow. I am so glad to stay out of the wind and not have snow blowing in my face. Hannah, as someone who's lived their whole life in the PNW where we get a lot of snow, I always carry chains, a couple bags of cat litter, and a little shovel. Cat litter works as instant traction if you're needing a quick fix... the other 2 are self-explanatory. Cat litter works just like gravel and is super cheap. Carry a couple bags with you wherever you go and you'll be amazed at how well it works!

I am in Pa., and when there use to be real snow, years ago, people used the ashes to help with traction. They would save it from the wood stoves, in metal garbage cans, outside. In case an ember was still hot. I believe they do make weights for the tractor wheels. But it looks like chains would be best there. It does look gorgeous with the snow!

Hannah, you need to disengage the transmission before pulling or pushing the tractor. There's a small rod that sticks out of the back of the tractor just behind the weights. You pull that out depending on how your model is there might be a pin or clip that you would move into the next hole further in on the rod to keep it out and disengaged. You shouldn't need any tools to do this and only takes a few seconds to do. Also in addition to the tire chains I would recommend getting two more weights as I see you only have two. And one more thing if your worried about your battery instead of taking it in and out of the tractor consider just leaving a trickle charger hooked up to it while it's parked. Love the videos and how determined you are, your the best take care. ❄☃️

There are so many little things needed for life to get things done properly and well, especially in a northern climate! It is great to see your persistence and determination with your projects. I had some reservations about the sturdiness of your closet, but the end result looks like it turned out good and should hold up just fine! Things don’t have to be perfect to work. I’ve had 2 pallets for a deck for years and they get the job done and have never rotted 😄 I have never used chains but should probably get familiar with them. I have snow tires for my vehicles. This summer I got new all season nice tires for my Subaru and they’ve done great so far this winter!

Your tree was beautiful. I love a live tree that you can see through the branches. It looks like millions more lights when you can see through and the ornaments hang well. I have the same tractor/snowthrower set up. I have a 50lb wheel weight on each wheel and have always used tire chains as well. This year I changed the tires to agricultural tread and took off the lawn saver tires, now I dont need to put on and take off the tire chains every season.

This was one of my favorite videos. I loved the way it told the story. It followed a theme, (whether intentionally or accidentally). It started out with you excited to try your new plow, then frustrated that it got stuck, then determined to fix the problem yourself (and the struggles of that) and then, in the end, proud, satisfied and on your merry way again (in the dark helped too). Dear Hannah, I am so excited for your videos every single time! I feel like I come to your channel in a kind of "let's see what Hannah's up to and failing at" way - and it's the best! Like you said, only by trying and failing and figuring it out, you learn. And the more you do it the more you learn. I clearly remember your road trip when your car had issues not only once but like four times? And you got stuck at night with your car not working, in the middle of nowhere and strangers nearby. Go online and purchase dirt bike snow and ice screws. You can install them in your tractors tires with a simple driver with a nut driver. However you will then need to put a half bottle of green slim in your tires after as they will cause leaks. On a dirt bike they are set into the knobbies so they don't puncture the tires, but I suspect they will on your snow blower tractor. But after that you will have all kinds of traction. I ride snow and ice all winter on my dirt bike and the traction is awesome. I installed them in my walk behind snowblower and they worked wonders and my driveway is at least 9 degrees up hill.

@@hannahleeduggan, a "double keyed deadbolt" is preferred for glass doors, rather than the "thumb bolt deadbolt." Also, make sure you use extra long screws in the latch plate on the door casing. Just wanting to make sure you're safe!! Hang a key for the deadbolt somewhere near the door but out of sight and reach of anyone peering in.

Put some quad tires on that mower. Plus let some air out. They are a softer compound, and will grip better. You currently have turf tires, and they are going to be awful in any type of snow. Some riding mowers you can add weights to the rear wheels. That will help with traction also.

It’s a lot easier if you get up on the deck, put the shovel down on the deck and push the whole length of the deck to shove a big pile of snow off. You won’t have to pick it up. You just shove it it’s a lot easier and that deck will be clear a lot quicker.

I know a lot of people only try to be helpful with the "You didn't do..." Or "You should..." comments, but honestly just comes off rather condescending 80% of the time. She's shown she's very capable (I mean just look at the projects she's done and FILMED for thousands to see). Let the lady BUILD, y'all 😂 Or at least finish the video before giving "suggestions" 🤣

You need a winch so you can pull stuff out when it gets stuck. You can also use it in the summer to get yourself out of the mud! I also have seen TikTok videos where they put outdoor carpet runners on the stairs so when it snows all you need to do is pull the runners to clear the snow… believe it may cut down on the ice should you get an ice storm. Yes! Chains and weights to attach to the back and have to keep up with snowfall. After 4-5 inches max must go out and do snow removal and keep that pattern. From one woman to another. Your machine looks similar to mine. Good luck!

You can actually get wheel weightstalk to your local john deere dealer, i'm a John deere mechanic and they do carry those types of things Anyway, you are doing a great job. I love your blue eyes. Tire chains and suitcase weights for the rear. John Deere has both and yes that will make a big difference for you. I recently sold my house I had the John Deere x370 and the tire chains and weights are a must.

Chains and counter weights. The blower is putting more weight and slightly lifting the rear tires. That and chains will make snowplowing a breeze.

My new chicken corral was struggling under the weight of heavy wet snow and i had to fix it in freezing temp! You were my motivation. I pictured you would just get out there and muscle up a solution. It took me all day yesterday working it spurts today its 3 degrees (michigan) so glad i fixed it yesterday! Thanks foe the motivation!

We have a JD small yard tractor too and had to buy weights and chains which worked well on flat driveway area, but we also have a second driveway with a huge incline, so we have to use our big tractor for that. It's never inexpensive to own outdoor equipment and all the add ons to make it do what you need it to do.....
