I think it's so cool that you're talking about trying to get pregnant "in real time" so to speak. So many of us spend so many years terrified of getting pregnant and when we DO want to get pregnant we have no idea what is going on with our bodies.

hi, stoma owner and ulcerative colitis patient here! hannah still has her rectal stump and the rectum is a biiiiig site for inflammation with UC. having active inflammation in the rectum increases our risk of bowel cancer the longer we experience inflammation, so removing the rectal stump is important. however, the two pathways to remove the stump involve surgery that can cause scar tissue to the reproductive organs. not much is really known about this but it’s generally considered safer and more viable to have kids before having future surgeries. there are probably other reasons hannah is choosing now too, but medically this is something that weighs on us ostomates a bit more than most people
@LizTiddington
@LizTiddington 3 жыл бұрын
@@SuperHackwurscht Yes, I get this is 100% part of not only the timing, but also having a proper talk with Dan about whether they want kids. But I'm sure other people who get a similar ultimatum go "ok, fair enough, in that case I definitely don't want kids", and I'd love to know what 'wanting kids' really feels like! Is it that nebulous 'some day that would be nice' feeling, or should it be more like being really broody and baby-obsessed... I just don't know!

Trying to conceive can be such a mental mind fuck! I think it's very brave to be so open about it. There is still so much stigma around the whole process. Thank you for your honesty. I'd be interested in a video about equal parenting. Me and my partner have a one year old and try to share as much with child care as possible (same time off for parental leave, lots and lots of communication, ...), but then there's breastfeeding etc. It's definitely a journey to break the classic mold for parenthood where mom stays at home and dad goes to work...

Hearing someone talk about fertility whilst in the midst of the whole trying process seems so important. So already thank you for taking us along on this ride, and like you said: it's different to talk about it not knowing yet where it will lead. So I never ever use my account to comment however seeing this pop up made my heart smile a little because i used to watch this series as an uninformed teen in quite a religious high school. Fast forward 4 years and I am so blessed to say that my time sexually active has been a positive one where I have total ownership and this series/your channel is a big ol’ factor as to why I feel educated and comfortable. Thank you so much, Hannah 💖

Reading all of your comments makes me feel a little better that I haven’t been in a relationship. It’s silly, isn’t it, that I worry so much about it, and I’m still young, but with everyone around me getting married/pregnant, and all of the movies having romance as a central point, it’s something that’s always sort of at the back of my mind. Anyway, it makes me feel a little better to see that I’m not alone. ☺️

This is so exciting!! I highly highly recommend Emily Oster’s books, Expecting Better and Cribsheet on fact-based, data-driven decision making during pregnancy (whether to give up coffee, can you eat certain cheeses, deciding whether to have an epidural during labour etc.) She’s US based but could be a great person to get on your KZbin channel in future!

Not blaming people who are doing that at all, but it forms peoples perception that this something that happens quickly and without any frustrating setbacks, so I'm really happy more people are sharing such things. Really grateful that you are sharing and I hope documenting that process works well for you :)

I had to wait a LONG time to have my coil taken out because of covid. I even tried to get an appointment with a private doctor of gynaecologist. I guess it depends on the capability of your GP depending on where you live. In my GP, they put me on a waiting list and then I had a call a few months later. I was starting to get desperate so I know how you feel :(

Looking forward to watching this new journey! I’d like to see “What not to say to someone who’s trying to get pregnant” and something along the lines of what would happen if you couldn’t get pregnant. Me and my partner have had “the talk”. We are on different pages at the moment. (He doesn’t want kids and I do at some point in the future.) I’m not trying to change his mind and I’m not thinking too much about it right now as it’s not the right time for either of us. Another video idea could be what you would do if one of you wanted children and the other didn’t, and how you would go about it.

Depending on his age and where he is in life, could potentially impact wether he will change his mind or not. I've been with my fiance 7 years (got together at 16&18). At the start and for a good 3 or so years he was adamant, no babies, ever. Then he's grown up and found his lifes passion and is working towards it. Now he wants children in our near future. It might happen for you. It might not. Fingers crossed it works out either way x

Thank you all for your advice and messages! With regards to my personal situation with wanting children, I am still currently working out if it’s a dealbreaker for me or not. Will I feel like I’ve missed out on something if I don’t have kids? What will my life look like with or without kids? Will I be a good parent in the first instance? These are the questions I’m thinking deeply about before deciding where the relationship is going.

Good luck on your pregnancy journey Hannah! Thanks for sharing and also feel free to not share until you're happy to. Having it taken out makes me feel grim too (I've had 2 out so far - next one coming out will hopefully be baby time for me!) Baby making sex would be super interesting as a video - especially if you're tracking ovulation etc, does it change anything about it? Does it make it less sexy? More sexy because you're trying to make a human? Does it change anything about consent (obvs. within reason etc.) I'm also intrigued about how you'll be managing a baby and social media.

It actually means a lot to me that you're so open about it, sadly in my social circle it's a bit of a taboo. Excited to see the next videos about tracking fertility and stuff, my partner and I are planning to start trying soon and I love hearing about other peoples experiences! I know Dan doesn't really appear on KZbin but I'd be suuuper interested in finding out about the 'mens' experience. As in, is it a lot of pressure for him, things like that! I feel like we often forget about the partners in the process of getting pregnant, most information is for the person who wants to have the baby in their womb. Lots of love to you! xx

I did a lot of reading and getting to know everything there was to know about cycles, hormones, etc. It is a miracle that any woman does get pregnant with how everything has to align to make it happen. I wish I'd had your videos when I needed them years ago! Just a warning, imho, there is a very real phenomenon about getting addicted to peeing on a stick to see if you are pregnant, even when you know you aren't, LOL I should have invested in pregnancy test manufacturers back then.
