Mostly children get a pass because he feels their mind hasn't developed enough to be in full control of their actions, emotions. He seems to only accept rudeness if it comes from a child.

He's largely the way he is due to his molding in childhood and being forced to eat his own little sister, if I recall correctly. I think he has an innate understanding of the malleability of childhood and actually might have a soft spot for children that prevents him from ever being willing to harm one. He seems to enjoy mentally engaging his victims, anyways, prior to their murders, so I don't think children would even remotely satiate his... voracious appetite.

To me it is Dead obvious! In tv psychopathic killers are played the way we wish they were like in real life! psychopath killers are uncomfortable in real life because they show no remorse. They don't love anyone, And on top of that they cannot change. What do they do in Hannibal? They have a Love arc. A very convincing one. We want the psychopath to be so dark and awful but then in the end be able to change and to love. Which cannot happen. We want this because we relate to their darkness and we want to be the ones that could heal and tame their beast. All impossible in real life. This desire tied within the Hannibal trilogies to tame a psychopath, which is impossible is why the tv show comes very close to fanfiction...

Ted Bundy I bet was very hot to the people he was coming onto. We don't think of him that way cause he was not hitting on us.. Also I believe the show spent A LOT of energy sexualizing Mads character. I personally didn't notice he was sexy in the opening early scene he was in. But the fight scenes, the pool scene where he swims in a speedo... erm, the following scene, and tons more.. Pretty much nearly constantly where he either is not wearing any clothes, he is dance/fighting/which looks plain sexual, etc etc.. My guess is some weird way sexualizing him while we root for Will as protag, and think in back of our minds Will is in love and wants Hannibal, thus we must root for Hannibal, even if we'd otherwise not root for him.
