Just got this in the desert yellow, which is actually tan. As for the strap / lanyard issue...I took a small zip tie and put it just under the snap to keep it held together and it works great. This is a great little pocket radio for tagging along for camping, backpacking, hiking or whatever.

They sent me the incorrect charging cable. Go figure.

How is reception strength? I got one and it was absolutely terrible on every band to the point I think I got a dud and ordered an new one from an unrelated supplier (if the whole batch is faulty)

@ As for the reception, Mine picks up pretty well... as long as I'm outside. I even have the clip-on antenna for it that really helps. I just cut mine on and even inside, I can pick up WWV Time station at 5.000MHz. They are in Fort Collins, Colorado and I'm in west Texas. It's not crystal clear but understandable.

Replacing the battery within 5 seconds does not cause the timer and radio frequencies to fail.
