The best Dracula movie in my opinion. While Bela Lugosi's version is so iconic and amazing in every way, i never was very scared by it, but Nosferatu was straight up terrifying. While Orlok isn't so iconic as Lugosi, he looks so unique, human-like, yet there's something weird about him, that's how a true vampire should look in my opinion. Masterpiece.

F.W. Murnau knew how to direct a truly scary piece and used the silence of the film as an advantage the whole film is spread full of dread making the audience feel the evil of the word Nosferatu stands for I do quite like Tod Browning at least as a director but he more knew how to make a spooky film rather than scary (which is fine) Bela scared the audiences with his long gazed stares and acting techniques which nowadays would only be considered creepy

The Universal Spanish version of Dracula is far superior in my opinion. That crew had a copy of Nosferatu that they watched for inspiration. The Spanish Dracula has much better pacing and striking visuals/camera work than the Lugosi version.

I think Count Orlok is creepier than other interpretations of the character. I think it has to do with how less suave and elegant he appears, Orlok doesn't dress in fancy robes or cloaks like Belo Lugosi or Christopher Lee. He wears a drab trenchcoat which makes him almost look like a hobo. I also think his appearance is a lot more frightening than other interpretations of Dracula or vampires in general. His distinct more buck-tooth type fangs rather than the elongated canines and long ears make him look even more ratlike and less human. I don't even think the 1979 version of the character captures the same unsettling tone of Shreck's performance. Like the remake is good, but the OG Orlok has a vibe that I don't think can ever be replicated. I wish more vampires like him got attention in media. I quite frankly find them scarier than the Hammer-style.

The original and the 1979 retelling are the best in my opinion. Even the 1979 version, Nosferatu Vampyre and the German version Nosferatu Phantom Der Nacht, they have different actions and lines. So the feelings and the scenes give off different vibes. Love All 3!

The closest I have found is a recording from a reconstruction by Gillian B Anderson (no relation to the X-Files actor), but even that is only available from European Amazon.

''Nosferatu is the best Dracula'' Guys... Nosferatu and Dracula are both complete DIFFERENT vampires! Nosferatu is NOT Dracula so stop saying he's him. I'm aware that the term Dracula defines vampires,but please. It's ridiculous. Nosferatu's real name is Count Orlok,while Dracula's real name is Vlad. They are NOT the same vampire.
@ShatteredGlass364 Жыл бұрын
Nosferatu was an unauthorized adaptation of the Dracula novel, and in some respects is closer to the original book that the official version with Bela Lugosi. The name Graf Orlok is a German translation. Graf means count.
