How come he forgot the most important rule, No one should own more if there is someone who does not own enough for their dignified existence?
@rwalkenhorst7 жыл бұрын
When people praise cops for being heroes, I want to ask them whether, after hiring a private security company to protect a loved one, they would consider the company's employees heroic if all they did was to catch the murderer after he had already killed said loved one. I suspect they would not, and instead would be demanding their money back and blabbing to every consumer reporter in town about what a crappy job the company did.

"...mercenaries, hired by the rich, to beat up whoever they didn't like." Pretty good description of the state's police and military. A private security company goes bankrupt if it does not provide actual - as opposed to imaginary - protection.

All of this is extraneous to my point. Do you really think the government police protect you? Really?

Interesting pair of options, you must be well read on the entire world's history and philosophy to have come up with that dichotomy. Surely you aren't just posting something on the internet without much knowledge and thought about it.

The Dr.Hoppe world is a nice place ----how do we transition to it?
@bbiggie977 жыл бұрын
Great question -- views on how to achieve this society differ. But it seems to me and many others that the best mode of transitioning is through a peaceful convincing to the rest of the population that government is immoral, inconsistent, and inefficient. When people believe that we no longer need government, it will fade away in a slow but effective manner, and the public sector will develop into the private.
@abramgaller20377 жыл бұрын
That is interesting.Publicly disseminated information may be the solution.

Can voluntarism ever be popularized?
@magnus4g637 жыл бұрын
I hope so :) I would argue that it already is popular (to an extend) as most people rely on voluntary interaction in their daily lives rather than threats of violence, the challenge is to make people apply this moral principle / behavior in all aspects of societal dynamics and thus oppose all forms of coercion/government ... if this is actually doable is about the numbers i guess, and it not looking too good as people sink deeper and deeper into statism :/

How does HHH explain the disfunction of private health insurance in the US? (Sincere question)
@chesterg.7913 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest issue is it would take years for insurance companies, healthcare, security/policing, etc.. for the free market to build infastructure to effectivley replace the government institutions and regulatory regime. Everything would have to be done over a long period of time.
@zigoter21852 жыл бұрын
Not really. The infrastructure is already there, aswell as insurance companies.
@mikexhotmail Жыл бұрын
The ability to track anyone anytime of phone service companies alone could be used by those insurance companies to operate pretty efficiently without the need of deadly force. ps. As long as the public ok with that.

Do you need an example of how it works for the cave man and the 21-st century man... or the 50-th century man?
